Exploiting Game "Features"

That's right, one of the main contributors on the TA side of the blue threads is posting about exploits.  Look out!  Flames a coming!  *keeps a sharp eye out for Altarboy*

So, here's a neat one I learned last night, probably everyone knows this already but I thought I'd share just in case:

A New Invasion, Free the Prisoners optional:
- the entire party enters the cell with a prisoner
- each person opens a dialog box with the prisoner, but does not yet click a choice
- count 3, 2, 1 in party chat
- all six party members select "You're free to go" or whatever.
- 1 actual prisoner = credit for six prisoners rescued
- wash, rinse, repeat 4 times, optional achieved without going through the whole damn level

And no, I didn't leave the quest.  I got my 5k xp and kept right on going.

Any other ones out there?  I admit to being painfully ignorant about a lot of these.

Why?  What do I care if Tarrant wants to read about exploits? 

As far as the classic rats, both Aussie and Shamwow can tell Turbine until they're blue in the face.  It won't affect us.  About the only thing that can happen is if you say some nasty shit about Tarrant and he reads it.  He might be less inclined to listen to your excuses when he's handing you points for something else.

We discussed culling those whom we didn't know, and those with rat-like tendencies, but in the end, the general consensus was "who cares if they read what we say or tell on us".

Here's an exploit for ya: if you managed to snag one of those huge bags from the store when they were still bind to account, you can use them in concert with your shared bank to pass eldrich/tempest/soverign runes from character to character.

Well, they said they weren't intended to be BtA, but I tend to not really believe that.  It sounds like a convenient excuse.

It is pretty BS though... glad I bought my huge bag the day before they changed it!

Of course, that's nothing compared to why they changed the way Reavers Refuge crafting works.  For a while there, you could go turn in your Draconic Runes to get a reward screen selection of Eldrich/Tempest/Soverign runes.  Then you could walk over to the altar, with the screen open, and drag the runes from the reward screen into the altar with your armor.

Net result: 10-12 attempts instead of 1.

Now THAT was a sweet exploit.  Funny enough, it made Reavers Refuge crafting a hell of a lot better.  Sapped the grind right out of it.  Oh, sure, Turbine probably hated that, as they wanted the DT crafting to keep us busy grinding... fuck them.  Sorry management, but grinding != content, you tightwad fucks.  I wish you'd remember that grinding is not what makes MMOs fun.

(actually, I haven't thought to try it with unbound large bags, it could be a shared bank issue and not a bag issue).

I know and that's why I'm jealous. I'm thinking about suggesting them to change the runes to BtA.

I been using unbound large for a while in this way. The only problem is that they created such as unique...

I do dislike the grind for it all... Personally I'd love to slap the dev's who picks some of these completely useless stupid features - such as Lionheart, ooze  etc...

Three out of eleven of my high level girls wear their DT armour ... and it's not for what's on them it's because it does not really matter what they wear right now.

An identification system used with draconic runes would help solve the problem, let's say, 5 d-runes to identify an Eldritch rune, 10 to identify a Tempest rune and 15 to identify a Sovereign rune would make the armor crafting a lot more fun and less painful. Also, of course, make all those runes bind to account instead of character. Too bad I didn't bought one of those huge bags.  Cry
