I would like to point out that I've never required him to reduce the role his monk has in his gaming.  I am, however, confident that if he were to invest even half the time in his fighter or barbarian that he would see the vast superiority for himself.

I love my lvl20 figher and lvl17 WF barb.  My 20 halfie ranger still needs refinement, but none the less, I hear you, but still find my monks to be endless fun to play.

I understand that, but this monk is "my" first good character. I am know that there are lots of better characters, and builds. Heck, I party with them everyday. This is my first to 20, so it will always be my favorite. Smiley

You can have fun with any build.  The guy that plays the doorstop paladin probably had a blast.  Eight strength barbarians probably have a blast.  Battle clerics that refuse to heal get nothing but enjoyment from the game.  That doesn't, however, mean that anyone can stand grouping with them... just like monks.

I can assure you that I don't have a mod7 image of monks because I didn't start playing again until mod 8.  My image of monks is from Mod9, but the only thing they've added since then are rings that affect DPS classes almost as much as monks.

Seriously, I'm sorry that Turbine made monks so shitty, but that's not my fault.  In fact, it's really not even Turbine's fault because monks haven't been worth the paper they were printed on since 1st edition.  They sucked so badly in second edition that they didn't even bother putting them back in the book.  They sucked just as badly in third edition, but WotC only cared about money so they added them back anyway.  Again... NOT MY FAULT, so don't be upset at me just because you enjoy playing the shittiest class ever coded into an online game (Here's lookin' at you, Burning Crusades Retribution Paladin).  Sad

Here is the question that matters:

What can a monk do better than any other melee class?

I way newer than you guys, so I can be pretty wrong. I can solo *some* stuff easier on my monk, like in the vale for instance, that I can on my other melees. Now I am the first to admit that my ftr is less than optimized (gonna be fixed soon), so my opinion may be incorrect. I can also solo in the battlefield with my monk, without a lot of expense. I don't think I can do that on a straight melee without carrying a lot of pots, or having a cleric available.

I am looking forward to when I can have several high level toons. I am a little envious of you guys that do. You can fill any spot in a party, whenever you want. That has got to be a bonus.

I see a monk as maybe a little more self sufficient.

Big enough to choke you with.  Of course, this was never about me or my epenis.  It was about helping a new player understand the ins and outs of the game.

O really? And how exactly did you help the Op?  Cheesy
I saw NOTHING helping him with his question other the some garbage having nothing to do with what he was interested in.

On and then you said you might give him something if he shows you a character on MYDDO,if you aprove it LOL ....if you wanna give somebody something just do it, don't be a douche! Did you invite him actually to show him how UBER you are? Roll Eyes

If I gave even the slightest shit about your opinion I'd explain what happened, but since I'm honestly impressed that you have the ability to continue breathing I won't bother.

Oh, btw... Stainer while may be new... is not so new. He is a return player been gone for a few years.

While a little catching up to do in gear and quest experience he's also a well coordinated, intelligent and ample player, is also among my trusted guildies now and been running along side Shamgar, Mcnugget and such... a tad green yet competent.

Far as I see it anything he needs is fine to ask of anyone yet, he should know by now I am there for him also... I consider him core FH now as such, he’s bright, mature and more than capable... I have no qualms on providing him access to channels - use is up to him though - so do not be surprised to see him pop up in some of them.
