OK i have never clicked around in the ddo site much but it seems odd a major MMO would be using a Flikr to host their photos . I know this isnt how other mmo sites work.... just strikes me as odd.

Not too suprised honestly, Flikr is free after all, and it is all about saving every penny for companies, both large and small, nowdays.

Honestly, after finding out that Joymax was using free hotmail accounts for their business several years back, any MMORPG penny-pinching does not shock me much.

Though it is a little odd that they would not host the photos on their own servers, I cannot imagine they take up that much space. Perhaps the contest was ran by a different section of the Turbine company (Promotions/Advertising), and did not have the immedieate access to post the photos on their own servers? It is a large enough company I suppose.

Just a thought anyways.

A lot of companies will upload promotional stuff like this to Flikr. It increases exposure for their product for very little cost at all.

I think it's because Flickr actually works and they can post the entry pictures easily.  Look at My.DDO that steaming POS, at least they realize their own lameness...
