	I know some of this problem is my computer, but I am hoping I can get some feedback. I play DDO on my laptop computer. Not the most ideal setup up, but it works for me. I have one issue if someone throws 1 icestorm spell, or a few dancing balls, or a lot of firewalls, my on screen movement drops to a crawl. My typical response has been to blame this on the caster(s). I am reevaluating my position and may even be willing to take some responsibility. My question - is this solvable with some game setting, or am I screwed?

I think the problem is usually the caster, although some people might say it has something to do with the amount of RAM on your video card. There are really only two solutions that I know of: get a better video card; run with better casters. That responsibility thing is a slippery slope.

	You might try turning off or greatly reducing the Post Processing Effects settings.� That will kill all the fancy eyecandy, and should make things easier on your hardware.

	Are you running in DX10 in some instances I have seen a marked improvement by dropping to DX9? I assume you have dropped your graphic settings down.

	I think I'ma go swap a spell and get me disco ball, that and prismatic sphere. That was Stainer can have a good time watching all those pretty colors while his video card is locked up! Shroud #19 on stainer VoD on springroll continue leveling Greenis Shroud on any of my other characters if I have time

	I run on my laptop and have no issue with a few dancing balls or ice storms. Might be time for an upgrade. I have an Asus laptop with an intel I5 processor, 4 gigs DDR3 ram, 1 gig ATI video card and 500 gig hd. Runs the game fine at almost max settings. I'm not sure where you buy you computers or parts Stainer but I have found that http://www.newegg.com/ and http://www.tigerdirect.com/ generally have the best deals. I purchased my laptop of newegg a yr ago for 800$.

	I run a lappy as well Stainer. How's your air circulation? I notice that if I have too much heat, my hardware tends to slow down a noticeable bit. I run on DX11 with a generally nice Graphics Card (will find specs later) and a Tri Core Phenom 2 with 8gb DDR3 RAM though...that might be why I do well... but heat is killer here in El Paso...It's January and ~50 degrees outside... Summer time is normally 90-115....

I got the bay from newegg. www.geeks.com is another good place for parts. My laptop is several years old. It is a dell inspiron 1501. It has an AMD athlon (single core) processor. It has an ATI built-in card with 256 meg of shared ram. I have 2 gigs of ram on this box. I know that I should get a new laptop, but I will not be able to get "I need a new laptop so I can play this online computer game" past the war department.

	When I've played on my laptop, which is also a couple of years old now, I've: 1. Run lower graphics settings. 2. Unchecked Post Processing Effects, Lowered Object Draw, turned down bloom. 3. Bought a cheap laptop rest with a built in fan that runs off of the usb port on the machine. Those have helped me immensely if I am on the go and decide while waiting to log into the game. I've done raids and the like while waiting around at the auto dealership for example...

	Keep cranking down the graphics settings until the problem goes away. I can still play DDO on Qwijy's computer without problems like you describe, and that thing has notably worse stats than your laptop (and it's been upgraded!).

	http://www.techchee.com/2010/05/26/msis-first-external-graphic-card-for-laptops/ this would fix it, cheaper than a new laptop theoreticaly. I don't know if they have ever hit the open market though. good luck
