the lama nerf mania continues

Disruptors, banishers, and smiters just got changed to vopal procs, but they do get greater bane damage, but not the + to hit...  Not so sure about this change... T

Melee death effects on items (and the rogue assassin enhancement) have been redesigned.
For targets with more than 1,000 hit points, vorpal no longer kills and instead hits the target for 100 points of bane damage. If a creature has less than 1,000 hit points, the vorpal effect is applied on a confirmed natural 20 as before.
NEW: Disruption, Banishing, and Smiting weapons now do 4d6 damage on a hit, and have a chance to kill the target outright on a confirmed vorpal hit (natural 20) if the target is below 1,000 hit points. If the target has more than 1,000 hit points, they will take 100 damage. Hit die caps and saving throws have been removed from these weapons.
Weapons with the Greater Disruption effect deal 6d6 additional damage on any hit instead.
Greater Disruption Guard will apply its death effect with no saving throw at its previous percentage chance, but will not deal additional damage.
Banishing Fists will grant the vorpal banishing effect to unarmed attacks, but will not do an additional 4d6 damage

I like this one...

NEW (Lammania Only): The arrows generated by the Quivering Quiver can no longer be sold, and will drop upon exit from a dungeon.

...umm, then what's the fucking point.

Don't you know Eladrin thinks that all archers should sit around for ten minutes at the beginning of each quest getting beaten on by mobs while some poor sob sits there healing them so they can benefit from the uber arrows that the quiver makes.

Oh and the smiting/banisher change really is nerf for lower level play with a buff for high level play (where they just didn't work before).  Not sure wtf the point of it was, but hey greater disruption is now better then disruption so at least there is something.

Sort of...  I have better DPS weapons for most high level stuff rather than wait out the 20's.  When these weapons were most useful was Valeish content.

Edited:
Never mind  I missed the 4D6 which makes them Greater Banes  +1D6 that kill on 20.

The Smiting/Banishing/Disruption/Vorpal change looks like a massive boost to me.

Smiting/Banishing - kill anything that has less than 1000 HP on a crit
Disruption - kill anything that has less than 1000 HP on a failed save on every hit
Vorpal - kill anything that has less than 1000 HP on a 20.
OR do 100 untyped damage under the same circumstances to anything with 1000+ HP

AND do 4d6 (I'm guessing untyped) damage per hit in addition to that.

How is that a nerf?

Triple positive weapons versus undead are really impressive now.

Thinking about this some more...  Holy Burst (to a lesser extent Shocking/Anarchic) of Banishing on non-Amarath devils that's gonna be pretty sick.

I used to go to town in the vale slayer area with dual banishers. For that purpose it's a nerf, but otherwise it might be okay.

Eladiun: With the new crafting prefix/suffix doesn't matter any more right?

I somehow missed the fact that Disruption/Banishing/Smiting all happen only on a 20 now.

The fact that they offer a "chance" of killing sounds like they still offer a save.

That is a definate nerf for Disruption.  Might be a nerf or a boost to Banishing/Smiting depending on your DPS and the crit range of the weapon.

You would have to make your own Holy Burst of Banishing.  The would take a lot of crafting levels and materials.

Killing in the vale will still be pretty fast.  That 4d6 additional damage will add up fast.

It'll work just like Vorps on a Confirmed Crit.  No save.  After a certain point...the desert maybe...disruptors sucked compared to my Greater Banes because everything saved.

I agree at lower levels it's nerf and at higher a buff.  Gonna miss the old distruptors in Madstone and banishers in the vale..

Ya, most shit saved on everything but a 20 beyond the desert as the DC was so low.  At least now we'll get that 4D6 additional damage per hit as we beat them to death (undeath) and do not have to see that damn blue hex over their heads every swing.

Not a nerf in my book other than my stash of lvl 8 RR Epic twink weaps is now devalued Sad

Saw an interesting suggestion on the other forums.

crafted Banishing Silver Handwraps of GEOB + Enlightened Vestments for Banishing Fists + Holy Burst ToD ring.

Harry just peed himself.

That sounds good enough that I might give it a try on my Exploiter Ranger.  I only use him to farm Shroud now anyway.

Banishing Fist doesn't give the 4D6 but otherwise that works.

I just bought all of the cheap, decent weapon type flametouched iron weapons on the Argo AH.

I figure Banishing Flametouched Iron [whatever] of GEOB is just about the best outsider trash beater that you can get.  Won't work in Shavrath, but that's okay.

cuz by the time shit has gotten to less than a 1000 hit points it is only 10 swings or so away from death usually.
Thus it is pretty useless.

Anything like a giant skellie with a large hit point pool...well, long way to 'under 1000'.

it makes banishers a bitch...sell you banishing rapiers now..

oh yea, smite/banish/etc..only on a natural 20.

fuck that shit...time to get rid of the 'big 5' right in the arse.

Because that's not how they work.

Insta-kill only works on Vorpal strikes now, not on crit.

I should also mention that Vorpal weapons are not listed as getting the 4d6 bonus damage in the release notes.

I mostly mention that because I misread the release notes as saying that they did.

I'm pretty sure that someone cast a Mind Fog over my computer for all of the reading comprehension errors that I've had over the past few day.

Those banishers, smiters, disruptors, and vorpals were too uber.

What is the point of a vorpal if it does not cut off their head?  I am pretty sure the big idea of D&D of a vorpal was to cut off the head.

I propose we no longer call it a vorpal.

How about vorpew?

NEW (Lammania Only): The Bow of Sinew now grants players an effect called Elasticity, which adds a +1 to a player's critical multiplier on a roll of 19 or 20. This effect replaces the Ranged Alacrity 10% effect on the item.

I saw that and thought, "Zexxi is gonna shit."
