Maybe this should be under drama, but we'll see. I thought renown, and renown decay were based off of accounts per guild, not characters per guild. Either way, since when did Foecleaver become all about renown?

      I have had a lot of RL crap going on and DDO kind of fell by the wayside for a bit (yeah I know, you don't care). I log in last Sunday and the MOTD was about people not showing up for scheduled raids. I log in yesterday and the MOTD is about how characters are going to be kicked if they haven't been played in two months. So that is one week. In that one week I had a bard of mine kicked (who admittedly I haven't played much at all). Granted, your guild your rules, but you don't bother giving people enough time to get their shit together? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot over?

Oh yeah, and because of that RL shit I've got going on, I probably won't be checking this thread until next Friday night at the earliest after today. Have fun for a week.

While it's per account, not per character, for renown decay, figuring out everyone's alts is not trivial.

A simple rule like "remove all characters not logged in in 2 months" ensures that dead accounts will eventually be kicked.

If you haven't logged into a character in 2 months, is it really a big deal if it's kicked?  Obviously, it's not a character you play much.

That said, I'm not sure there's much point to that manual pruning, anyway.  The system already excludes inactive accounts from renown decay, and that suspension doesn't zap the characters' renown they brought in, as removing a character does.  So I'm not sure pruning makes sense even from an optimal renown perspective.

It really wasn't as much the issue that it got kicked, its the fact that I (or anyone else that hasn't been able to log on in a week) had no warning. Add in the fact that renown has suddenly become an issue?

Doesnt kicking inactive accts hurt the guilds renown more than help it?

Admittedly Im a renown newb. We dont focus on it as a guild at all. We have a few people that take it as end rewards mostly, but many of us only take it if there is nothing else more useful to us.

As a guild we dont kick anyone. Even when it was hurting our renown levels. We make it hard enough to get in we figure, we leave em in. If we ever got big enough to be capped it might be an issue, but I doubt that will ever happen

When I get bored tomorrow at work I'll come expound on renown for now I'll play.

Was it really too hard to cycle through and log in each of your toons for 1 second each? 

It's is a matter of their guild, their rules. But on the flip side, do you want to be in a guild that makes rash decisions and gives such a short time frame to get things in order? Or even a guild that is too intent on renown?

I was in ER, a great group of people (a couple that rubbed me wrong). They went Renown crazy when it first came out, as did most. Things evened out for a bit, then when the small guild bonus was going to be adjusted the whole "let's boot everyone that isn't active" even the people that said they were taking some time off. So that's when I dropped. If the stupid bonus is worth more then your friends, it's not the place for me.

Now I'm a guild of one, no B.S. to deal with. People still know me so groups aren't hard to come by. And I don't give a rats ass about ship buff. So I'm much happier now.

I think in CE, we only halfway cared about renown when we started getting close to 60 and 63 for a new ship and the last +2 buff.
