Anyone Notice that this whole crafting debacle...

...didn't really begin until Tarrant was removed from being a forum mod?  Maybe they sent him over to development to come up with a new way to buttfuck the players of the game, and he came up with this crafting system?

Coincidence?

I think not!

*The above is only the opinion of the High Rabbi of DDO and does not reflect the opinion of dimwitted fucksticks like Tarrant.

Tarrant is excellent in development.  Their entire goal is to make vets leave the game (mostly through bans), and he is good at that.

I don't know yet. I need to talk to my RL friends to see which one they're on.

Thought about trying Rift but remembered how many other MMO's that I have played for a month and then given up on.
DDO is the only MMO that I have played for more than two months and sometimes I wonder why I still play it.

Same. However the reason I started playing DDO was because I am unemployed and playing for free looked really nice. I got a couple interviews lined up though so A monthly fee wont be so, imposable.

I was planning on going V.I.P. once I got a job. If these changes stay then obviously not.

Don't bother...very meh.  Besides if disco balls freeze you up Rift will swallow your laptop in a black vortex of latency.

Ditto for Sisster, Perma, and I...  I personally would play WoW, AoC, or any number of others before Rift.  I hear Star Trek Online is awesome until you run out of content after the first month.

The beta test was fun until the newness wore off.  Sadly that took all of 20 minutes, including when I took a shit.

I'm on Shadefallen. So is Leira.

I enjoy Rift personally. It's a nice break from DDO and a good pace change. And I like that I can switch between roles on the fly.

Oh, and buffs are very minimal.

I did enjoy STO for well about 3 weeks.  I capped in 2 and I play online maybe 1 once a week.  Ground combat sucked...

DCUO actually held my interest much longer but the lack of people has pretty much put the nail in that one.

I actually play ACE Online as my "need a break from DDO" game. Its F2p and they have a pretty good model for it. No zone is restricted you just have to be a sub to get stuff like shared warehouse and the ability to carry more than the normal amount of ammo. You can buy most benefits with the points which are also used to purchase the subs. The PvP is prolly the most tolerable I've been exposed to in any other MMO and the RvR fights can get pretty fun( there are two a week).

In my personal opinion, WOW is actually a really fun game until you get to the point where the only way to advance your character is to run raids. The levelling itself is quite fun and there is some pretty cool storyline all the way through. There was a time when the whole experience was run to place, do something, run back, hand in quest, get other quest etc, but they have improved that part a heap and its more streamlined. If you levelled up a heap of characters of the same race it might get old, but its fun at least the first couple of times through.

When you get to raiding though, it can be a case of running stuff to schedules, which just isn't my thing, YMMV.

Its one of the things I really like about DDO, being able to jump into raids with friends, stuff around a heap and at most an hour later you are done. There is so much room for error its not funny.

That was my experience, too.  I actually really enjoyed the game as I was exploring new lands, discovering new dungeons, and levelling my character.  Once I capped I realized that I didn't have the schedule to try attending any of the end-game raids, and PvP didn't attract me at all.

The huge conflict between the PvE and PvP players in WoW is actually pretty interesting.  People who play PvE get all mad that someone can do a better job tanking just by running some arena matches, and people in the arenas get all mad when a tricked-out PvE player comes in and dominates.  It makes for a lot of drama on the forums.

Absolutely.  The flexibility in finding things to do is really what keeps me playing DDO.

I don't get quitting over crafting, tbh.  It's brand new and it wasn't there a couple of months ago.  It's not in any way mandatory.  Why not just completely ignore its presence and be glad that there's now an extra type of loot that drops in chests and is worth selling?

I'm just sayin, even if it's absolutely shithouse, you don't really have to participate, right?  What could possibly make it quit-worthy?

You aren't getting the impact of including raid loot or btc tomes to the crafting mix.
