Have a nice, HIGH jump(My case it was 70(I know it is capped)) and speed(pendant of time).

Climb on top of the Leaky Dinghy.  If there is a lighter than air pocket around there I have not found it.

Aim just a bit to the left of the ramp, you should be able to see it.

Presto.  No skates needed.

The first few times I failed miserably.  Failure is good character building.

Hmm, I'll have to try that... I thought I was cool for being able to do it from the first ramp on my monk... jump back to towards where the purple coin is on the first ramp... I did it once without my "monk jump" but was guaranteed it with the monk jump.

Needed a Jump spell and haste to do it.

i tried that.  i must be missing my timing. i kept *just* missing the coin

had a wiz friend haste/GH/jump me when i tried... i had over 50 jump when i checked.  he said it looked like i wasn't hitting the wings at the peak of my jump. maybe it's client delay or lag or something. i'll try again and play with my timing. kinda sucks to miss it by |-| that much each and every time, tho

After trying several methods over the last few day...this seems, IMHO, to be the easiest.

To be honest, I have been on my 20 Monk which makes this the most reliable.

1st day, regular ramp jumps- max purple coins achieved 75
2nd day, jump from right mast to ramps-max purple achieved 150
3rd day, jump from left mast directly to purple, max achieved 350. (could have been more but EDA for silver wraps grind was calling)

Oh and for those counting, approx 500 purples turned with a total of 26 recipie 5's received.  I am cursed.

Coins can sell for around 10kpp apiece
It takes on average 20 coins to get a recipe 5.
Recipe 5's (or full kits) can be bought for 100-150kpp apiece.

Stop turning in coins unless you want motes and hos.

I netted 5 5's yesterday after turning in 22 coins, which was a pretty sweet score considering my past luck.

I turn in the coins to get the kits and the potions (chill shield, haste, frosty beverages....etc) to give to my guildies who want them as I have no need on my toons and waay too much time on my hands

I just got 15 purple coins in the harbor.  They are the first purple coins I've ever gotten.

Thank you very much for the right mast/left mast tip.  That took me from "almost there, but never quite enough" to "no problem, I can have all the purple coins I want now". 

I still haven't managed to get a coin from the Leaky Dinghy even with a Pendant of Time, 53 Jump and Wings of Faith.  I truly suck at jumping.  If it weren't for the left mast starting point, I still wouldn't have any coins.

Don't forget they added craftable trinkets to the coin drops so less recipes for everyone

The trinkets are BtC, so make sure you hand in the coins on whatever character you want to have the trinket.
