DDO should allow people to transfer characters to a different account.

Never gonna happen.  That would basically create a legitimate way to purchase fully leveled and geared toons from other people.  What makes you think they would even consider this?

So I can TR three toons at once?  I don't care if people sell fully geared toons, you are an idiot if you don't think that happens already.  They just the account instead of the toon.

No, I know it happens.  But there's a big difference between selling a password and selling the actual character.  The former happens, sure.  But the latter being available would basically become legitimized under a system which allowed a character to be transferred to a different account, which is why it will never happen.

Actually I think it would be MUCH easier to track the selling of characters. But you are correct never gonna happen, Turbine wisely wants me paying TP or monthly fees on multiple accounts rather than consolidate!

Or they could do what sony did with eq2 and have an online marketplace to do just such a thing. I still think it was one of sony's smarter ideas.

never say never I guess hey Cheesy like I said I would love it if they did this. I have a capped toon waiting to be TR'd with a fair amount of Raid gear and completions (not to mention its my name sake) on an account I just dont use. On the otherhand it is nice having a Parachute account waiting incase of emergency sanctions, especially one not associated with any forum accounts Grin

It was kinda a double edged sword. Yeah I could transfer toons from my friends account to mine(came in handy duel boxing for lvl grinding) but it also encourged Plat farmers. I mean I know sony did it to get more money and it worked but there were tons of plat farmers/toon grinders on the servers that had the marketplace because sony basically made it legal. It was more than a little annoying.

Cale, I think you are under the impression that I care about the well being of the game.  Shit, if we had an influx of plat farmers - at this point it would probably be better then whatever the fuck turbine is doing to the game.

You may not, but Turbine does, and the results of such an action are obvious so they'll never do it.

Turbine only realizes it until they figure out a way to get financial boost from it.

I'm mildly surprised that they haven't done something like this and set up a character Auction House where they take 30% of the dollars that people pay the other player for the character that the player leveled up.  Plus the 1295 Turbine Points cost of the character transfer.

I still think that would be a terrible idea.  I'm just surprised that Turbine hasn't done it.

Their marketing director hasn't come up with a fixed price yet.  Give it a time.  Hopefully soon, sooner the better.  One TR life=3? I love it.

Capped characters would be cheap to buy. Even I can cap one in less than a month. Some of you can cap a character in a week.

Meh, I am talking about burning through 3 tr characters at a time instead one at a time.  Yeah, people will buy characters - oh well.  Who cares? Also, a week for a 1.9 mil character is a little long.  Should take ~30 hours to cap one of those.

Also, I would be selling characters on the side.  I am all about making money off of games.

Which is what sony did with the marketplace. They saw what happened with EQ1 and decided to put their hand in the cookie jar with EQ2 and it worked. Made the game enviroment more than a little annoying but I cant fault sony on the decision to make the marketplace.

Not a toon transfer per se but Blizzard seems to be seeing what SOE did with EQ2 and getting their hand in the cookie jar with Diablo III.

From article:

That means that you'll be able to buy gold, items and components using cash from your bank account and sell that same stuff for credit with Blizzard or cash.

Thirty hours is like a month and a half for me.

I seem to recall Blizz allowing character transfers in WoW. But both accounts had to be registered with the same last name and both had to be using the same credit card number.
