As to the Elite/Hard not being rewarding enough, we got this change coming soon(tm). I'm quoting from Lammania release notes:

* A new bonus has been created that awards players for running quests consecutively on hard and elite difficulties. This Bravery Bonus is a 5% bonus (10% bonus on Elite) that will "stack" up to five times, or until a player runs a quest on Normal difficulty.
* XP Rewards for first time completion on normal, hard, and elite are now 25%, 40% and 80% respectively.

So, yeah. Die harder!

Elite 1: +80% +10% = +90%
Elite 2: +20%
Elite 3: +30%
Elite 4: +40% -10%
Elite 5: +50% -20%
Elite 6 +50% -30%
.
.
.

Looks like XP farming on Elite just got a LOT more attractive than doing the same on Normal.  At least some people already do Wiz King and Shadow Crypt that way.  Looks like it will happen even more now.

I'm a fan.

My question is does this mean the same quest or any quest (i.e. 5 different quests on Elite) if any then you could get +130%.

Although I welcome it, seeing as how I run purely elite quests when doing my TR/lowbie runs, do we really need another easy button, in regards to xp?

So after all stacking, xp pots, xp shrines, Voice/Mantle, we're looking at close to +200%xp? (if I'm understanding this correcntly...Good gawd that's ridiculous.)

At least this will make 2+TRing a little easier...I guess...

I don't look at it as an easy button really.  Rather than running 8 Normal, 1 Hard, 1, Elite you would run 1 Normal, 1 Hard, 8 Elite. It might make XP easier but it will make it more interesting running the quest.  You actually get a reward for pushing the difficult.

Wait, how is it an easy button?

Getting from 0 experience to 4.3 million experience is NOT difficult, it's just really fucking time consuming.  This is the exact opposite of an easy button, because it means you can remove some of the time consuming grind if you play quests more on harder difficulty levels.  In other words, it makes the game more difficult.  The fact that Elite is still really easy in most cases doesn't matter; it's still more difficult than Normal.

I guess that's a good point.  Although, based off how things have gone in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if they did this for all difficulties... Cheesy

My interpretation of the OP is that it needn't be the same quest you run on elite.  The bonus keeps increasing (up to max) "until you run a quest on normal."  So you can go run all your quests on hard/elite getting huge exp bonuses (+90% first time hard; +130% first time elite).

Sucks for Premium though; can't open past normal solo!

It's also an improvement to a VIP perk, as well.  Being able to run stuff for the first time on Elite without an opener and all of that.

EDIT: What Kernal just said as well

It's an easy button in that you're getting things done faster.  You're getting more bonuses.  I don't see what's so hard to understand.  And this doesn't make the game harder.

Fine, call it a "grind-subtractor".  Smiley

This is how I'm reading it too.

It makes the VIP opening perk quite a bit nicer.

Very different, actually.  Elite once-and-done is the best way to take advantage of this change.

Quote:
The bravery bonus is a once ever per quest bonus and is not reset by LR's and GR's. The bonus is not added or increased until you run a new quest then the bonus is either increased or reapplied if at cap.

What people complaining about an easy button need to decide is if they really mean 'easy button' or if they really just want DDO to be a massive time grind on a TR.

Listen...I PuG a LOT.  I do it because it's fun most days.  But I've been in some groups for quests on normal that would have wiped if I wasn't there.  I was playing my first life barb project last night in a Tor group.  I carry all the goodies a first-life can have at that point for self-sufficiency but obviously on a barb my 'keep the rest of you alive' is limited to intim'ing anything I can gather and killing things quickly.

Anyways, we decide to 4-man it while we get more people with my barb, a ranger, a wizard, and a cleric.  Both the wizard and the cleric summoned hirelings.  This is on normal Tor with a 12-16 group.  We start the fight in the opening room.  Before 2 waves are done, the wizard (who NEVER threw a single buff for that fight on anyone but himself, haste included) and the cleric (who never healed anyone but himself for that entire fight) are both dead.  On normal.  The wizard then proceeds to lecture us on how that's why you can't run any quest without a full 6-man group.

My point to this story?  Making it so that people like this can run quests on hard or elite to get more xp isn't creating an 'easy mode'.  Good god, they can't even finish normal unless they rope a competent player into dragging them through the quest!  What it is doing is rewarding the competent players for doing something more difficult than normal.  Depending on the toon and the quest that 'more difficult' part can mean a change in difficulty from having a pulse to breathing and having a pulse but at least it's something to encourage more difficulty in the game.  I'd think the 733t folks would be eating that up but w/e.

Reading that thread that sirgog started, I'm beginning to like it as well.  I normally spread my questing around between different quests anyway; it looks like maybe I'll have more company and be better rewarded for it now.

You seem to be confused.
You get the bonus once per quest per life.  The "I got the bonus" flag isn't reset by running on norm.  The only thing reset by running on norm is the size of the bonus, which drops from (whatever you're at) to 0.

There's almost no point in running quests on normal as a TR now, except if you're unfortunate enough to need to unlock hard.

No, it's a one-time-only bonus per quest, so no reset.  Also, they increased the bonus for running hard/elite, which is also a one-time-only bonus per quest.

So that means a lot more elite shroud, ToD, Hound, VOD.

There will be n reason to run normal from now on, correct? You will run all your quests at the hard level at least, if not elite.
