Dual-/Triple-boxing tricks?
Aug 30th, 2011 at 5:12pm
Print Post
Trying to farm a few items, and was wondering if there was a way to get characters below min. level into adventure areas and quests.

Say, a level 4 character getting into GH, Orchard or Vale.
I know there have been instances of level 8 people getting into GH, and lower level people into Shroud.
How?

They didn't have level requirements before.

IIRC you can still bypass it, through the Teleport Spells ( or GT ).
It's just that you won't get any quest completions.

I think being in a party with a character of the correct level do the trick too.  I'll have to check all that.

OK.  Mostly they've closed all the loopholes (although some may still exist) and it is all my fault.

Seriously.

It is my fault.

I'm sorry.

We had a run for a while where my toon Hordorabbi like teen pop-star from the 70s had the spotlight all on him via the Khyber forums for my epic /piking abilities.

We had him flagged, running and even getting 4 kills (ok...they were held mobs) in the Shroud at level 4.  We got him a couple Hound completions at level 6, VON at level 4, Titan at level 6, Reaver at 6 and tried DQ, VoD and Abbot, but failed due to bullschlacha lag, at the last minute before they switched on the Amrath update which locked him out of the areas due to level restrictions.

We were so good at putting out the PR releases via the forums that Turbine came in and nerfed me.

That's right.

Ask Stainer and the gang...they nerfed ME.  We even called them out on Nerfing Hordo.

Was pretty funny.

But it is all my fault.

*sniff*

/cry like Jerry Falwell
I'm so so so sorry.  But Gornn will forgive meh.  Just send in your plat and donate to the cause so that Gornn will be gracious and forgive meh.
Send your holy donations to Hordangel, for it is with the angels that we will find forgivness.

They also tend to break the level restrictions every patch or so...after U7/8 the Sub was open for all for a while.

I just got that impression after you spent 13 pages calling out eladiun for being an interwebs bully when anyone who's been posting on here already knew that.  I mean, he's proud of it and hardly tries to hide that at all.

Hordo: all good, glad someone had fun with it while it lasted.

Really what got me thinking about it was a Crucible thread in the Achievements forums about the lowest level char to complete it solo, and your level 4 Shroud piking adventure.

Guess it's time to cap some froobies. Sad

I summon a level 1 brown rat in every shroud I do on my cleric. it lets be gauge how good the arcanes are at clearing trash. My favorite shroud ever was when there was a betting pool on how long the rat would live. The rat made it the full 10 minutes before its timer ran out and it got dismissed that time.

However ever sense I started running ahead to D.O.T. portals ahead of the party can clear trash a bit the rat doesn't do so well.

Just a FWIW.

The latest update appears to have borked some of my old dual box on the same computer tricks.

Now if you recall or hit a rest shrine and then alt-tab to the other client, the first client stops action. Recall / FO is just a new PITA. Found out the hard way you can waste hard / elite rest shrines by this new 'feechur', though.   Angry

Didn't they map arti rune arms to alt? Might have an impact?

I've read nothing about artificers, as they are currently on my 'don't care' list. Is there a chance I can do something with my keyboard settings to free that up?

I should think so. They automapped it there IIRC - although my custom settings are alt for push to talk so I didn't see that. Just wondered, since it's something they've done to the alt key in this update.

Glad I vented then. I'll muck around in my settings after work and see what they did to my alt key.

Thanks for the clue to the clueless.

Edit - Clearing the alt key of its default artificer only binding fixed things.

Too funny.  I knew they'd fuck something up with that.

I really enjoyed running with Maxwell's new Arti and constantly hearing "SHIT" as he charged up his rune arm while trying to target mobs with tab.  It was an excellent Misery's Peak.

ETA: Well, by constantly I mean two or three times.  But still.  Hilarious!
