I was thinking of either an 18 bard/2fighter or 16/2fighter/2rogue - the idea of the latter being to make the most of evasion and add in trap skills (have a lot of trap gear already stashed away) to make soloing a lot easier.

Any feedback/build suggestions would be gratefully received

16/2/2 would work well. 18/2 would be better if you go SS over WC.

I personally still favor my 14/4/2 WC build for soloing.

If you're TRing again as soon as you hit 20, then you want to acme at 18, and thus there's no reason for 16/2/2. 2 rogue for evasion/traps, 1 fighter or barbarian (depending on your desire for more feats or more speed), 12 bard, and the rest is negligible. Can tack on more rogue if you're lacking trap skill points or more f/b for more melée proficiency. Just keep your perform maxed out and grab the construct and undead fascinate enhancements.

I'm a little rusty on the numbers, but warforged 15, 15, 16, 10, 10, 12 should do just fine, or if you have a "spare" feat you can tank wisdom and take force of personality.

Are you going to TR by yourself or static with others, and what will they have? That makes a difference in the answers to your question Smiley

Not really sure if I'll be TRing with anyone else yet - there was one other person interested but I'm not sure it's going to happen at the same time and our time zones are so different that it's very unlikely we'll be static.

If I did, the other person would most likely be going Wiz.

I'm interested in the 14/4/2 build and I also see what you mean by 16/2/2 being irrelevant as I'll never really get to play with those last two levels Smiley WF would be perfect as he's currently WF and that would mean not having to bother about investing in new gear/armour!

Ive also seen some 16/2/2 Bard Barb and Fighter Horc builds, They would be a WC but not much room for soloing either unless you can work on some DR/Damaging skills.

I'm running my bard life as an elven falchion specialist 16 bard / 3 rogue / 1 barb warchanter - it's fun so far. Went for a build that might stick at 20 for a little while, debating trying to get my 20 VONs in. Again....

Running speed and that sprint boost thing, weapon proficiencies, a mini rage, power attack improvements, basically. For the Barb. I've never rolled a fighter so TBH I'm not sure of pros and cons there.

The genghis khan build on the forums worked nicely for me - i went horc on drilltex' second life - had a lot of fun with it, went barb and fighter levels

Barb or fighter = martial weapon proficiency, higher base attack (depending on # of levels taken) (higher base attack = more attacks/minute)

Barb = +10% speed, spring boost, rage, +6hps vs. Bard level

Fighter = +1 feat at levels 1,2,4,6 (whichever applicable), +4hps vs. Bard level, +1 strength if 2+ levels, weapon specialization if 4+ levels

I have a 32 point bard build I have been using.  I don't play it much, but it is quite powerful.  Not many consider the versatility of Intelligence powered evasion. 


From my original post

A Half-Elf Kitchen Sink Build

Keywords:  THF, Half Elf, Dilletante Paladin, Evasion, Trapmonkey, Warchanter, Bard, Rogue, Fighter, UMD, 32 Pt.

This build is not meant for pure DPS.  If you want that, go make a fighter.  This is for the guy (or gal) who likes to do everything.  This is a true support toon.  You get all the buffs of a warchanter, but do more than just sing, you can do some damage!  No more piking bards!  Also, you get the added benefit of truly useful trap skills (up to epic with gear), A useful perform skill for some minor CC and, a great reflex save with evasion for more survivability.  Imagine this build self buffed with gear.  I imagine it will be quite good for soloing, but it is designed for party support.

Build Strategy

DPS is an afterthought, this toon was made to buff, do traps, avoid dieing via evasion, act as an emergency wand/scroll healer, and THEN do some damage.  Spot is not included, because it is an expensive luxury.  If you really want me to build spot skill into the build, send me a PM and I will see what I can do, but that is an extra commitment in skill points I was not willing to make.  Just use your face to find the trap!

Possible Alterations

Take force of personality at level 18 for a higher will save. 
Don't like the enhancements?  I didn't put too much work in there, redo them and make them better if you want.
Cleave is getting a makeover in U9, work your way to great cleave if you want.
Take Skill Focus UMD for a retardedly high UMD check on a melee toon.
Boost your devotion enhancements, get a little gear, add maximize and be a good secondary healer.

Half Elf beats HOrc in damage now with the new Damage Boost.

If I remember correctly, it is only short term.  Longer drawn out battles make the H-elf look like what it is, a prissy little bitch.

It's the same thing with Blitz builds vs. Barbarians.

You're only as powerful as your action boosts allow. the only difference with HElves is that you can use Damage Boost AND Haste boost simultaneously.

and honestly, how many battles have you ever seen where you need more than 10 Boosts?

You can already get some martial weapon proficiencies with WC, and you can also just cast master's touch and be done with it. Being WF isn't really as vital with a bard - in fact, I'd not go that direction since you'll actually lose self-healing abilities (bards get cure spells, not repair). The rest of the stuff like BAB and rage you can get from clickies, so I wouldn't actually be fussed about it. I know you prefer DPS over support, so I'd guess you want to go WC and just utilize fascinate as opposed to going SS to get the stronger CC spells but less DPS. If I'm wrong, tell me Smiley

If you're TRing immediately, I'd just go 18/2 with the rogue levels and be done with it. If you go WC, stick your level ups in STR. I'd probably go human for the extra feat.

I was actually thinking of SS for the holds as then I could beat them down probably as quickly as if they weren't held (due to the increased crit possibility)... it's a tough choice though!

If you're going SS, the answer is Charisma.  Charisma, Charisma, Charisma.  Put all of your level-ups in CHA, make sure you have as much CHA as possible, and if you can, craft yourself an Epic Elyd Edge for the +7 CHA to balance your +1 Exceptional CHA and bring you up yet another level.

That said, you're only looking at single-target holds and basically saying "Fuck you" to any soloability, period.  If your goal is to rush through a Bard life, a CC spellsinger probably isn't going to be the build that you want.  It's a lot of fun and very useful, but the solo skills just aren't there, in my experience.
