And it was more an annoyance at the US-centric aspect of it as their are many veterans deserving of honour all around the world (not just Commonwealth countries either). I actually like that something is said about this day/time/event/honour. US-centric stuff is common to DDO and that's fair enough as you have to A place to reference off and that makes the most sense. Other times it is just something that has to be worked around - it's not like life is hard. I also got a PM from Leslie - did anyone else get PMed? It was very much a form letter.

But at 11 mins past the 11th hour we may get a message over the intercom for a minute of silence. I think it's appropriate that it happens in our working day - it adds a kind of weight to it. What we have and what we can achieve is in part possible due to the commitment and sacrifices of others. The big thing in Oz is Anzac day which is a different day (wikipedia it yourself if interested). Dawn services are a powerful way to remember and honour. And then a parade. There is some amazing people there and a good way for people to remember why and communicate down the generations.
