So it's just like people predicted.  Exploiters get a ban and then there's a nice bonus while the ban is going on. 

...except for the part where the ban was short enough that the exploiters got to enjoy the bonus XP/loot too.

...and most of the exploiters never got any ban at all.

This kind of thing makes me wish I was the type to exploit an exploit. I just can't bring myself to do it. I did sell knock wands for a bit...maybe 600k worth, but I didn't consider that an exploit at all. I think they only changed the value on those wands in response to player bitching.

The nerve of a company offering incentives to get people to play when they're around friends and family and might play in front of them prompting a conversation about the game which would end up with that friend/family member signing up and starting a character while receiving bonus loot and experience which would give them an improved perception of quest rewards.

I'm happy to make fun of Turbine and bitch about their shoddy QA, but I just can't bring myself to complain about bonus loot and XP.  Even if it comes 12 hours after I cap my Monk and I have to miss out on all but 2 hours of it for Thanksgiving prep.

I didn't consider rods a true exploit either.  Completing a quest and selling the end reward is pretty much how the game is played.

Being able to sell the same rod over and over until you can't hold anymore plat would have had been an exploit...like Eladiun, selling a reward...and in that case the only real way to dump all those flipping gold doubloons...pretty sure they didn't consider it an exploit, either, they changed the value to stop the crying.

Yep, that was my mindset.

People were whispering about it like it was an exploit which definitely gave me pause.  Then I thought about it and realized that while it may not be working as intended there was no way to know for sure unless Turbine came out and stated one way or the other.  And given the glut of gold doubloons we were getting one had to assume Turbine had some reason for all of them.  So I bought enough dousing rods to clear out my excess golds and moved on.

I was definitely clueless, only caught it at the tail-end of the event because of the Vault. I had some time to farm more, but chose not to.
