So I am Tring my wizzy again (hopefully for the last time)

So my question is, should I go Human or Drow (and no I do not want a WF, I have one already)

Human gives me better Con and an extra feat.

Drow gives me one more DC.

What do you guys think?

I'm eventually going to TR my Elf Wizzy into a Human Wizzy for the extra feat. It will be easier to fit the Past Life: Wizzy feat in.

Human should end up with the same DC as drow if you're maximally geared. Drow gets you at most half a DC at the cost of a feat, HP, etc.

Drow starts with a 20 int and a human with 18, that is 1DC. A human can pick up another point that a Drow cannot, but with the same gear the human has 1/2 less DC and since 1/2 does nothing for you, a Drow has +1 over a Human.

With my current gear and pass lives, as a Drow I will have a 45 necro DC and as a Human a 44 necro DC.

So my question is does that one point justify the loss of HP and the feat?

ah ok, I have a little wizzy, have a hard time staying interested but she is elf
I tend to play sorcs as I am better and spamming boom then artful use of strategem.

You just agreed with me but effed up your reasoning. The difference between the two is 1 INT - half a DC. We agree on that.

If your gear ends up adding an odd INT bonus, then yes, a drow has a +1 DC bonus. The fully geared out builds I've seen end up with an even bonus, though, making the +1 INT from drow wasted.

IMO even if this is the case, no.


Max gear is  7 (item) + 3 (exceptional) + 4 (tome) + 5 (level ups) + 2 (yugo) + 1 (litany) +3 (enhancements) + 2 (capstone) + 2 (ship buff) = +29 int. Because a Drow's max base int is 20 and a Human's is 19 (18+1 enhancement), they end up as Drow 49 and Human 48 - that extra point isn't doing anything for a drow, so for the most part Human has the same effective Int.

This spells it out; of course I would have to get a +4 tome and in 2.5+ years of playing I have never even seen one drop much less pulled one myself.

Going Human will leave me at an odd number unless I can pull a +4 Tome, which I can hope for and just lose the 1 DC until then; of course if +5s ever start droping I would be back to an odd number again ...

Well, I got my +4 cha tome on Wyl's 18th ToD run (not even the completion list  Cheesy)

Though if you plan on dumping the litany as well, then Human is even again.

In form, my first life human has 48 int fully buffed. +4 tome and a litany would make that 50.

Spell pen would be nice from an elf, but meh. Probably do human next life too. Currently getting 32 spell pen on level 8 spells and below, and 31 on level 9 spells. Epic Staff of Arcane Power FTW.
