"Hi everyone!

I am very excited today to share the news of DDO's first ever premium expansion 'Menace of the Underdark' which will be releasing to our players in just a few months during Summer 2012!

This will be the biggest release we've ever done for DDO and it is loaded with many long-time top player requested features including an increase in the level cap into Epic levels to a new cap of 25, the introduction of the Druid class, and our first-ever adventures set in the Forgotten Realms setting!

We will plan to add more information and assets to the site over the next few months and also roll out some forums discussion threads and dev diaries to let you get a peek at some of our plans.

PS We have a big XP boost in-game this weekend to celebrate our big announcement and the start of the year of the Dragon ! It should help those of us who have some characters to level and get ready to face the dangers we will face in the Underdark!"

Now, if they can only make bags work, fix UMD lag, fix the scroll wheel zoom bug, and  host of others we will be somewhere.

Looks like epic levels will be separate from your normal leveling process, so at 20 you can either decide to go epic or TR...and then TR later if you want, of course.

I expect it would totally fuckup using crafted gear with more than 10 potential, of course.

In fact, I can't remember having read anything on a level cap raise, and mostly connect it to questionable speculations in party chat, and the official forums. But that's me not remembering stuff.

I was aware of a plan to change the way how Epics lead to character progression, and I'm just puzzled by the blunt instrument of a level cap raise.

Not that I know of, of course, but since they've already well-established epic difficulty as something beyond an ordinary level 20 quest, then the challenges that scale to 25 it seems reasonable.

They are probably going to change all epics to have it how the challenges do. Choose to do epic pick lvl 21-25. But you have to be 25 to choose or be in 25. Some crap along that line.

Anyone want to speculate on the cost to access the new content?

I'm thinking 3995 Turbine points. Free to VIP of course.

I was thinking 2995 would be more reasonable but given the pricing of the Challenge pack leads me to belive it will be much more. It is EPIC afterall.

Puzzled how?  People will only grind gear and TR to be 1% better at the same content for so long.  If there is no progression in an MMO that MMO dries out.  It's a simple fact.  Especially DDO has no PvP element which many games use as End Game filler.
