Beginners Caster FVS build

Print Post
Hi Everyone,

There are a lot of existing discussions in the Forums about FVS builds, and to be honest, I don't know how to build one.  This is for my friend who only have a Barb as a toon.

So the idea is this.

1.  32 point build, has access to +2 tomes.
2.  Non Melee.  Spell caster.  Evoker?
3.  Casually healing raids, non-endgame.  So just normal TOD, Shroud.
4.  mostly running ADQ1

The reason I ask here is, yes I know there are a lot of builds already exists.  Others are outdated, or already have a long discussion.  Reading failure on my part.  I rather have the opinions of vaulties.

This is just a beginner build, maybe TR in the future, but not yet in the plans.

Thanks

You can never go wrong with the human evoker.

I've built my FvS (first divine for me) almost like Impaqt's evoker and i had a lot of fun, while lvling and at cap.

Healing raids and epics shouldn't be any problem, the build can solo heal a normal shroud if you don't get a whole party full of gimps.

Just a few points to make about Impaqts FVS build since he will just be doing ToD shroud and DQ.

-No need for extend at level 3, grab spell pen.

-Two capstone choices, one is a free searing light and the other a free cure spell.  I would go with the searing light one.  Which means going with the silver flame not the sovereign host.

My first ToD on my FvS healer, I just used scrolls and the freebie cure light healing the Horroth tank. I saved the SP for the oh poo moments, but it was nice and smooth.

That was only because you had a good tank - or the second healer was picking up the slack.

Thanks for the replies.

I saw the Impacts Evoker build.  I just thought someone said it is outdated.

I guess I am going for that.

Thanks.

I can assure you it is not outdated. Epoch is right about extend. I took it on mine and never use is.

She took Great axe proficiency on level 3 so that she can melee.  Still playing it as a barb I guess.

You will want to switch that out. Spell pen is good advice.

I didn't bother with extend on my FvS. She's not ideal, but she works just fine healing normal and hard standard devil raids (hox, vod, tod, shroud) and some of the easier epics (von6 and DQ) with little to no gear investment. Initially she was gonna be a melee type fvs with pally and monk levels, but she was shitty melee, spell casting and healing so I just lesserd her pure. I went with the free healing capstone, and I get great mileage out of it.

I might just have to TR my FvS into a straight evoker. I tried a human twf/casting version but not as pleased with the end product at 20.

I know people play those with success, I just can't see myself doing it. I am serious that my evoker is super powerful for a first life character. My WF FvS is a pretty good melee.

I do want to try this out, maybe next life with a plan to TR anyway. I'm a fan of recycling, though, so maybe my thf warchanter can try this out. (though with cannith crafting that's just being lazy rather than frugal)

I did PL Sorc. Gawna has PL Pally on hers. I don't think it matters much.

I only have one toon that swings a weapon and means it (not counting my sorc twf for 18 damage on a 20).  Unfortunately he is a pure pally though so he can't hit SHIT

The only negative to the Human Evoker is leveling from 1-12.  On a first lifer tho, you should fly through that so not too bad.

Once you get Blade Barrier, you'll start to love it.  I still prefer the free cure over the searing light capstone, but that's mostly down to my poor mana manamgnet and I'll take all the help I can get to save a few sp  Cheesy

He (or she, I dunno) said said shroud, dq, and tod are pretty much all it will be running.  The free searing light is more valuable in that regards.  Well, IMO.
