I'm looking forward to Druid in exactly the same way as I looked forward to Phantom Menace.

I'm kinda looking at it like Arti.  It will be the next overpowered flavor of the month.  I like those.  I'm TR'ing, slowly.

I still don't see a reason to roll one up unless you want Completionist. then again, I said the same thing when Arty's came out and seemed quite Meh as well.

Arti's were 3/4' s finished when they came out and haven't been touched since...

Turbine biggest problem is they are like toddler's with ADD they start shit but never finish it.  This game is littered with good ideas and concepts that never saw completion.

I know diddly squat about druids, since last time I played pen and paper was first edition. My failing memory (I'm almost as old as Stainer) has no recollection of druids.

Wouldn't it be more likely that you keep your druid spells, and gain access to the spells cast by those specific forms?

I'm guessing it will be like the SLAs - you'll pay in enhancement points to be familiar with any given wild shape, and once you buy it, you can drag SLAs for each wildshape to the toolbar. They'll only be active when in that specific wildshape, just like monk abilities like finishers and feats like stunning fist are only active when in a stance. Of course, it will be amazingly bugged, so we will be able to cast lightning spells from water ellie form.

This sounds almost 100% certain to be accurate.

One big question for me is if you're going to have to waste a feat for Natural Spell.  Either way, though, you're still going to be able to have access to all of your class spells while you're in your wild shape, because otherwise it would be fucking stupid and no one would go into their wild shape unless it provided insane melee benefits or something (which Dire Bear form might, if available.)

I can definitely see PnP Druids absolutely ruling during leveling, thanks to Wall of Fire and summons and pets and wild shape and self-buffs and plenty of other benefits.  I think they'll actually be pretty much on par with other classes by the time they hit cap, though.  They do get Finger, but not Wail, so there's a chance that pure caster DC builds will be viable, but I'd imagine that they'll be better off focusing more on melee builds that have synergy with wild shape.  I'd imagine that TWF feats will still be needed for claw/claw/bite.

I think Arty's need more PrE focus really. There needs to be more expansion on the Melee-ficer roles (with Bastard Swords), and an Evocation/caster line. also, more expansion on the Caster Level bumps. I think a PrE that takes Scrolls to 20 as well might be cool.

Another disturbing thought:  I *really* hope that the elemental forms are just “replace your textures with the basic element pattern and add particle effects to your character.”  The door is already being opened for beastiality jokes.

IMO, the players are the toddlers who have ADD.

Player:  Hey this is broken
Turbine: Look at this shiny!
Player: ohhhhh!

The general reply of the players I feel is, we don't want fixes, we want new content.

I am reading the threads about no new content and devote the whole update on fixing stuff.  Most of the replies are like, no, we want more content.

And no metamagic on DPS spells in form either!

Fuck me, it took 5 years to program a shape change like that? A puff of black smoke and just replace the character model is all that was needed. Baldurs Gate was doing more convincing shape changes in the fucking 90s.

But that's the only use for wolf form: wild-shape + wolf companion + twisted DM = werewolf army.

They did that already in one of the TSR Greyhawk novels.  (OK, it was the use of a polymorph other spell on a real bitch of a princess.)

Anyway, you people disappoint me.  We’re going to need flaming tranny jokes for the expansion pack.
