IIRC Blade Barrier is a druid spell in 1st or 2nd edition.  However, it isn’t a druid spell in 3.5.

Bards done by 1st edition rules would have had been pretty funny.

I'm trying to find a spelling alternative of Redlance to save, since someone apparently already took it.

I'm such a nerd. Smiley

I knew it!  There was a valid reason.

...what is the consensus on good past-life feats for TR-ing into a Druid when the big event happens?

Thus far I went ahead and guessed that Wizard would be nice, so I have begun the levelling => TR process on Hordoculture, my future Druid as a wizard this life.

Hopefully, I'll have the time to do at least one TR before July 25th (if that is the right date...I'm old and my memory is going...at least that is what I tell the authorities when they ask me things) and I was considering a 2nd life as a wizard, but if there is a better plan, I'm eager to learn.

I was thinking Wizx2 then Druid and stay there if I get burnt out or TR again and do a couple of FvS or Cleric lives.  Also, just how close to the PnP Druid do you think this will be?  I am asking this not because any PnP build is remotely viable in DDO but that the main stats are generally the same as well as the general spellbook, and I'd like to figure out what kind of stats I'd be looking at after I make sure my CON isn't dumped.

THANKS!

On the advise of others, I also rolled up a wiz for the pl.  But after looking at d20srd, it looks like they have a fair amount of evocation.  I'm really not sure how many of their spells (other then Finger) will have a big spell pen  requirement.  This is my first arcane so I don't mind it, but actually think that a melee or sorc (my original plan) would have probably been better then a wiz.

Stat wise, it probably depends on what you plan to do.  They're wisdom based casting (spell point and dc) though, so you I would imagine stat layout would be similar to a cleric, depending on your desire to melee.  I've been pulling named scimi's lately, so that might end up my route.  I have serious thoughs on a drunk build (18 druid/2 monk).

This is excellent, and now I need to pick some of those scrolls up.  I do like to harass my guildies and use break enchantment on their BB's when they cast them to close to mine (it doesn't matter if they cast if first).  This didn't start until someone complained about overlapping BB's in dreaming dark one day

Most of the druid offensive spells are Evocation.  Finger of Death is the only spell that comes to mind where Spell Penetration matters.

For any caster focused toon I would do 1x wizard past life just for the Past Life: Arcane Initiate feat though, then Sorcerer x3 for max Evocation DCs.

After reading the replies, and asking around, that is what I was thinking as well, especially since the first life I will likely play as a "caster" until I get the knack of the spells and special effects and how they work in real play.

On another note, now I'm concerned about SP/HP items especially as concerns Green Steel.  I was wondering what slots you folks think would be best to build.  I was thinking Bracers slot and maybe Goggles and/or Cloak.  Anyone have any suggestions or good reasons NOT to use those slots for my druid?

Paladin.

Druids don't have access to recitation or divine favour but taking extend will be a decent option so 15 minutes of Divine Favour SLA will be awesomesauce for combat.

Tanking in bear form or just in general will benefit hugely from an extra 5% healing amp.

Edit: Re: GS slots: I'd assume the possibility of wanting to slot a 3 piece abishai so be wary of that. In general, I'd say you can't go wrong with conc-opp HP goggles and airguard SP gloves/boots (as a swap item).

If you're crafting with a druid in mind, personally I'd wait until more details are released about the xpac including the itemization.  Could be new "must have" druid gear that we haven't seen before. No sense rushing to cleanse GS only to find out it's suboptimal.

I have two planned, one is currently a barb, will be TRed into a sorc, then druid.

The second is a wiz, will be TRed into a sorc, then druid.

I level way to slow (alt-itis) to do more than a couple of past lives on most of my toons.

As for greensteel I am not making any until I get to the druid life(s), just collecting shards and whatnot, I don't want to make anything that will just have to be banked, I already have to many of those already.

I am in wait and see mode on Druids.

I probably will not roll one up or consider TRing into one until they have been out for a bit.  That is if I roll one up at all.

Now if the druid had a cat form I would definitely roll up one.  Run around with my black panther hireling and my black cat Pet.  Just cause I would find it amusing.   Cheesy

But I think the barbarian past life is always useful on any character.

mmmm maybe I will TR my Barbarian into a druid....

Okie Dokey....update:

Hordoculture has finished her first life, Wizard and is 10k shy of level 15 as a Sorc on her 34-pt build TR life.

This leaves me with around 6(?) more weeks until the supposed arrival of Druid and enough time for one, maybe two more TR Lives.

IF I decide to TR again, should I stack the Passive PL bonuses of one or both of the current PLs (Wiz/Sorc), or add a completely different one?

Should I TR at all?  Would it be more advisable to run the toon as a sorc at endgame and pick up whatever I can for both the toon and the account, then TR into a Druid for the 36pt life?

Forget it for a bit, and level up the other TR toons I have languishing in the midst of purgatory?

Wink

I think that the location of where Turbine put Druids on the epic destinies dressphere chart is interesting.  They're lumped together with Rangers and Barbarians.

That might make me want to knock out a Fighter life or three for some To Hit, but that could also be a waste depending on how their particular features work out.

Of course, if having a "full power" Druid requires three Fighter lives, then there's 0 chance of my ever having a "full power" Druid.

I never looked that closely...that is not what I expected, but then again the idea of Druid in my head comes from the AD&D version.

From the preview spell list, it seems like druids have spells in a few different schools: evocation/conjuration/transmutation.  Evocation is a given, but for example, call lightning is transmutation and storm of vengeance is conjuration.

That being the case, I think I may try to work in another life or two...maybe a cleric one even (ugh).

Call Lightning is evocation in 3.5 rules.  If Turbine classified it differently, expect it to change to evocation before release.
