Monk DPS: stance?

I posted this question on the forums, but since we have few monk players here, I would like to hear your opinion. Assuming being 100% hasted and not tanking, which stance do you prefer for DPS on your monk and why?

Earth because of the damage reduction, the extra die step from Jidz, the extra hp.  I'm sure there are other reasons but I'm in earth stance unless in a raid where there's a tank, in which case I switch to another stance.

Dps, fire.  Tanking, earth.

My monk is healing amp focused so I spend the majority of the time in fire for the self healing, I do switch to earth when crits are more desirable or wind sometimes if I'm using something with a proc rate for the doublestrike.  Water is only there for running through traps and refilling ki while waiting for others.

So for me Fire>Earth>Wind>Water>Heart

The DR on Earth is helpful in avoiding damage and then the faster healing in Fire is helpful for topping off when I have time to heal up.  My monk has the same attitude toward DPS that my FvS has.  I'm less concerned about raw DPS and more concerned about doing enough DPS to get through the quest at a reasonable rate while reducing my resource consumption to a reasonable level.

My Fighter and my Wizard are both more concerned with raw killing power, but I take them in different quests than I take my FvS and my Monk.

This.

Ki strikes are costly and monk to-hit sucks.

Edit - Wind for 6-man epics and challenges, because convincing my arcane peeps to cast haste is like pulling teeth.

Wind stance is the best dps, if you have the gear for ki generation and to hit, followed by earth. if you are lacking the gear fire stance is the best.

This is my view.

I love the extra 10% Doublestrike Air-stanced Monks get. The thing about Air-stanced Monks is you MUST give them HIGH strengths (start with a 16 MINIMUM, prefer 17 or 18) in order to have good to-hits AND to take advantage of that 10% Doublestrike by doing a lot of damage when that Doublestrike triggers.

Fire is a good choice too because of the extra strength and Ki you get. I tried Fire stance on my Light Monk for a while but I wound up hating it because I always felt like I was WAY slower than I probably actually was. Air stance has always felt "better" to me.

My Dark Monk has the Epic Jidz-Tet'ka and so is always in Earth stance. She's a hell of a tanker but I still don't play her much because of what I perceive as "attack slowness."

I am in the wind stance group. I rarely come out of it.

I just started my monks' 3rd TR. At level 20 on second life I had 489 HP, 72 standing AC, 32 dex, 36 wis and used wep finesse and GTWF.

Using SS clickies, I could tank most bosses with minimal healing using FoL and maintained a pretty consistant DPS with the speed of attack and double strike procs and rarely missed.

I know dex/wis builds are not the optimal, but it works well for me.

Wind Stance by far.  Then a toss up between Earth and Fire.  I love the idea of Damage Reduction and increase crit dmg but the threat generation is a massive dps loss for a monk with Sneak Attack or a low To-Hit that requires Flanking.

3d6 Helf Sneak Attack
+3d6 Ninja Spy
+8 Sneak attack item
+5 Exc Sneak attack item
= 34 Average Sneak attack per punch
+25% Damage Boost
= 42.5 Average Sneak attack per Punch with Versatility.

My monk wont be in earth stance if Wind is a choice with all that damage... and with Ninja Spy 3 being out soon.

This.

My monk is ungergeared, and uses fire stance when having hit issues.  Wind otherwise, or sometimes earth.

Stance is irrelevant against trash, as is dps.  Use tharaak wraps in whatever fucking stance you want and instakill them all.

My favored stance againat trash pre-tharaak was fire for the strength boost. Depending on your strength, the mob fortification etc, the earth crit multiplier may not really add.  Healing amp was a bonus.

Against bosses stay in fire unless you're the tank, then earth. Water and air are situational.

Instant asshole. Just add alcohol.

Keep in mind that my monk is a shintao.

Earth IV: Big fists + dual fisted crit multi > 10% mainhand doublestrike.  Also, Earth strikes are the least resisted.  And then there’s defensive bonuses.

Air IV: For when I can’t afford the incite bonus.  The strikes are pretty good.  But overall, it's a weak stance.

Fire I:  Because everything after tier 1 is a bad joke.  (Yes, a +1 to hit/damage and a shit amount of ki on a crit is not worth 9 action points.)

Ocean IV: You can be a Ki battery… when the group is sitting on it's thumbs.
