Not exactly.  I'm extremely nearsighted and pretty much just flail around with melee weapons until I run into something.

Of note, I did get hasted tonight, although I was tempted to rage at people for other reasons.

Humbily, its earth > others

Many factors to consider though (dr/hp/ac/etc)

~200 point base damage crits without PA? yeah, I like earth

Probably because it depends so much on build, playstyle, and situation.

This.

Ki strikes are costly and my monks to-hit sucks.

Edit - Wind for 6-man epics and challenges, because convincing my arcane peeps to cast haste is like pulling teeth.

ftfy

for my pure (i care about h.amp more than max dips.)
trash mobs fire
tanking fire
challenges wind

for my AA (12m/6rng/2f)
earth during manyshot
water during 10k stars
earth when meleeing

for my 12f/8m
wind

absolute max dips still becomes situational depending on enemy fort, to hit, and str value.  so unless you want to crunch your own numbers just go with the balance you like.

Fire.  It gets you the Ki you need for your dark monk attacks.

You must not have a very good to-hit.  I'm in Earth stance 95% of the time, get plenty of ki for my ToD and with my Tier 3 hand wraps, I'm tossing out lightning strikes and energy storms like a mutha fucka!  Cool

Looks similar to what I do actually.

Teenie - 20 pure
Trash - wind+oremi to keep attack speed and ki going for FoL, stuns, voids, etc.  I'm usually douing epics with almost no healing assistance except boss fights
Tanking - earth+shintao to hold aggro, a miss here and there happens

She used to use Sun+shintao for tanking.  The extra damage from being able to void 3/4 and earth 3/4 plus one more strike as appropriate does a lot more than people realize.

Tobril - 12/6/2 monk/ftr/pal

Tanking - earth - AC and hate, no other reason.
Sun - all other times to maintain 400% amp  (4/8/12 on vampiric wraps, sufficient to clear to lob solo if careful)

Time to ask for group consensus - If you are in a raid, should you stay in Earth stance and just expect the tank to be good enough to keep aggro anyway or should you go to not-Earth stance even though you'll end up with less DPS in order to make sure that you don't grab aggro?

Feel free to assume that you are in the raids that you usually end up in - that means some people are going to assume shitty tanks and some people are going to assume awesome tanks.

I'm used to PUGging with my paladin, where I can drop PA, my fabricator's set, and drop from t3 to t1 DoS stance, and STILL steal agro. I'd go with a different stance.

Would you go the same way on a warforged monk or is the +25% insight bonus for healing amplification on Epic Jidz Tet'ka worth staying in fire stance for while tanking?

If there is a designated tank and I pull aggro via Earth (happens in LoB a lot when people forget that fists are amazing DPS vs 100% fort) I'll drop it and swap to Wind 4 for DPS and doublestrike.
