Pally stuff, dps question (Read 6822 times)

	Now, I know pallies cannot hit anything. But, when I roll that 19-20, I want to make it count. Anyone the endgame dps difference between the defender stance tier 3 and the kotc? Looking to grab more hp as I don't really like sitting at 507 till I get the rest of the gear I want. Defender stance easily gives me 150+, so.... If my dps take a giant hit though, I won't concern myself with it. Thanks! Also, I typically run the quests where the pally shines as a kotc, an ev6 every now and then, but not really a big focus.

DoS is the way to go. You will have more like 800+ hp You will draw more agro up the bum than Gawna gets things up hers (<3) Bonus to Strength as mention . Also if you are missing things with your pally, try and use your spells, Divine Favor is nice, it grants +3 to hit and damage. Kind of makes me lauugh when people say they cant hit things with their Paladin. LRN2PLY The bump against EOS is great until you get agro and the healer cant keep you up as a KotC. Only WF and Dorf should go KotC for the most part. With only 500 hp at endgame sounds like you went heavy CHA, which means you have added damage with higher Divine Might 2 or 3, you will like this better. Dont waste any time on anything better than exalted smite 1, divine sac go as high as you can.

	way i see it, you're only 4str ahead since kotc will be raged. i went from kotc to dos, i barely notice it against evil outsiders, and i've found it to be a pain toggling out of stance and back in to refresh madstone. Overall it is more dps, (esp since i hardly run dq / tod on gimpenmo anymore) but dos requirements makes ap even tighter. in chrono i was and still am the tank, but now i've got the hp to be chosen instead of griefing.

	Why wouldn't dos be raged? Take your ac burn it, burn it in white phosphorus. Ac is fucking stupid. Why would you have to leave stance for madstone?

You can't be in Stance and MS Raged with a SD fighter, and Stance cancels out Rage. I'd think Pally would have the same issues.. Just roll up a Mechanic Rogue Epoch. The DPS will be better. Then you can take out a dagger irl and out DPS it. On yourself.

	yeah going into stance cancels out rage and prevents procs of madstone. you can however drop out of stance, madstone, double madstone, then go back into stance. it wasn't always like this, devs changed it back in late 2010 or early 2011, personally i'm willing to write of conventional rage, but the madstone prevention fucks me off.

	Exalted Smite is fun, but for long fights it's only 10-13 swings out of 100s or 1000s. That tends to tone down the DPS boost you get from it. I generally take only the first tier, so that my smites don't have a retarded animation and so that I get the free +1 multiplier.

	KoTC is the thing to be if you are serious about mainly using him in devil raids/quests. 4 damage vs a ton of d6's is a pretty easy call. You don't need 1000 HP to be a non-tank DPS.

Here is the thing with DoS, it allows you dump Con to 12 or 14 (And remain viable around 650 HP with decent healing amp) and go for Cha to get the yummy +6 or +8 damage of Divine Might 3 or 4 and you have atleast 14 minutes if not more depending on your Cha, this is in addition to the +4 to hit and damage of DoS (no rage accounted for)

Indeed. and their prerequisites need to but but in half same with most of the costs for enhancements. Its really tough to make a useful general purpose pally, you have to specialize and even then it can be tough

That'll be a perfect opportunity to fix the most glaring weaknesses in the class.
