Weapons on a TWF Melee FVS

I've been leveling a Helf TWF 18 FVS/2 Monk with the plan to use Scimitars and the Undying Court bonuses at endgame, but I'm starting to wonder if Handwraps are actually a better choice even without the bonuses. By my math, they'd be +3 attack/-4 damage versus Scimmies, but also the ~10% faster attack speed (and mini-wind stance). Obviously the crit range is also a factor. Any math wizzes out there have a take on this?

Why not carry both and switch out when you need to?

Tharaak wraps > all scimitars.

Well, yes, but I meant more in terms of boss DPS. I imagine that Handwraps would be better against 100% fort and when I really need the attack bonus. That, and I can offhand something like Epic Kron'zeks when wielding Scimmies.

I do love Tharaak Wraps, but not as thrilled with them in epics (well, they're alright in the easier epics, for sure).

Right; abbot comes to mind for wraps being better, especially if you nab some wraps of endless light next mabar.

Why not accept that your primary dps is the dot, and your melee contribution is support.

Boost the party dps overall by using debuffing weapons.

Huh I don't see anywhere in my post where I convey the RAWR I DPS! mindset. I'm perfectly willing to use debuffing stuff when needed. I don't see how that isn't compatible with also trying to get my 'support' DPS to the best it can be.

I have the pieces for one. Is another worth the effort? I assumed that it would be the best offhand for most situations, but hadn't considered dual-wielding them.

I'd make 2, just because I like being equal. A challenge scimmy might be nice with crushing wave and corrosive salt on it. Quick and easy to make too, and adds DPS no matter how shitty your str is Wink

Crushing Wave is ~ average of 10.5 damage per attack.
Corrosive Salt is ~ average of 9.3 damage per attack.

Does Crushing Wave still overwrite Niacs when it procs? Or was that ever the case? I remember seeing several posts on it, but the issue just seemed to drift away.

I was thinking of making a challenge scimmy, but was debating between Tier 3 Level 16 with Holy and Bleeding versus a Tier 3 Level 20. A little less damage a swing, but doesn't need to be slotted to break good DR, so that's something.

A guildie told me it still overwrites the dot, fwiw.

I'd go with whatever version is less effort to make.  If you have the tokens sitting around or you find it less boring to farm tokens rather than challenges, then make the level 20 version.

Well, that sucks. I guess that would relegate them to trash weapons or soloing weapons. Though I imagine I'd just use Cannith Crafted stuff against most bosses, it does suck that I wouldn't be able to use the Calomel weapons against Velah. Maybe I will just make two Kronzeks.

Crushing waves removes the niacs dot? Is that way everyone runs around with lightning on their weapon instead of corrosive salt and crushing wave? Hmm, now.. do I care about other casters or my personal dps... tough decision.  Well, at least it was until I remembered I was talking about me and my monk.  Fuck casters in the bum, they should be acid or elec spec from now on.
