But it's ok.  Turbine devs play their own game.  They'll fix the soul crushing lag.  Soon.

Playing today was surprisingly lag free. My usual rubber band-y spots in the marketplace seemed a little better.

Same here I noticed game seems more stable. But I have highest cable speed I can buy. So wasn't bad to start.

Wow, you love me. There has been two big lag fixes in the past week. No, those are not going out with a hotfix. They are more wide ranging and take more time to test.
Of course every time you get like this, I keep wondering where your MMO is so I can play it. Obviously you know excatly how to piece one of these together. I can't keep apologizing a gazillion times for the back end tech and things people did on this game before I was even an employee. So one last time, yes some of the stuff from the before times sucks. Sorry about that. Yes we know, stop building new systems. Yes we know, finish the ones out there. Yes we know you hate bards.

And screw you for bringing up the laid off folks. That sucks every time. I made sure all my people landed in other jobs real quick. None of my 'casualties' are unemployed, just sadly not employed by Turbine. Every business goes through this.Even Valve has layoffs. It sucks every time. If you haven't had to do it then you just don't know. Picking people and knowing you are about to turn their life upside down is terrible, every time.
Not giving a bleep. No, I stop listening when the bile starts. Not worth my sanity. You know my rule, treat me like a human and I'll do the same back. When the rage train starts...cya.
So here is my peace out of the vault for a while. Thanks for the list Ranger, that was actually clear and helpful.

You are special.  So, very, fucking, special...  it's, fucking, retarded, how, special, you, and your highest cable speed I can buy, are.

Because server-side lag can be fixed with FiOS!  The Verizon guy told me so!  I give them money and they tell me I'm special too.  Retard.

Raid or chone.

Last night:

Artificer Wilderness = laggy as hell.  Our guild enters epic MA and have to reset the instance (Turbine's recommended course of action) because it's too laggy.  On the way back to the raid entrance, people die to cannons we left up in the wilderness because they can't move or are stutter stepping and can't climb stairs.  We get back into epic MA and the lag is still there.  We do the optional first in the hopes it clears up by the time we get to Toven.  Nope. We release during Toven's golem phase because we all died from spells not landing.

To give you some content: The first time we ever tried epic MA we were successful.  It's a stupidly easy raid.  The only possible way for us to fail it is from lag.

We've had bad lag nights before on Orien, but it usually doesn't follow with hardcore people saying "I regret buying the expansion" and "I'm taking an extended break from DDO until this is fixed."  I can't blame them at all.

I completely disagree. I put you in the clear category of the DDO poor or DDO on a budget type player. So your opinion is clearly jaded and wrong.

Just got done with mentau. I think I'm officially in awe of the fact that they can put in a new physics system, and still keep an almost 100% physics related bug alive. Truly impressive.

Lag seemed better for me...now ladders are a different story altogether.

Oh, and Ironical eat a dick.

Lag spikes seem less crippling, but not gone entirely.

In other news, I am still facing the zone out issues where I get disconnected from the world zone but not the chat servers fairly consistently.  BooHiss.

I do not have zone out issues.

Market lag is only getting worse.  I believe the graphics is ever increasing because now players must have companions to also be drawn.  For me, this is the lag causer.

Time for a new gaming computer with better graphics and more more more memory.

All I can remember is them saying they want to tune the backend so it supports the new stuff, apart from that change there was something MajMalph mentioned which was going live before the physics changes (13.1.1 I believe)

Orien has always had terrible lag, Carpone. Probably the worst lag out of any of the servers I have played on.

Also ladders are fucked. You MUST walk up them from the beginning. You have absolutely no option whatsoever to jump onto the ladder.

There are two ways to do this:
1. Redo the physics system from scratch.
2. Implement the old physics system on a new engine (they're using Havok now).

Choice 1 brings in a whole new class of bugs.  Choice 2 keeps the old bugs (and exposes old bugs that have been insufficiently papered over).  Can you imagine the number of bugs option 1 would produce in the midst of coding up an expansion?  I surprised that they seem to be limited to the "infinite falling damage from 1 foot" and "can't shoot over a pebble" bugs.

I did report the return of the ladder bug (on steriods no less) on Lama.  Haven't seen it live, although I expect little change from the old ladder bug of this year.

Except for the tiny fact that since 2007 we have been told the reason druids were not released was flaws in the physics and game engine that made them impossible.  So, in essence they have been working on this for 5 years.  You might think they would fucking get it right.

Funny, I've never refactored an engine subsystem without first analyzing where it falls apart and if there would be any side effects. Which means step one is making sure the numbers that came out were the ones that were supposed to in the first place. Otherwise, I just don't see the merit in all that sweat, since adding yet more functionality later down the line can cascade based on existing failures, and make it even more of a nightmare to debug.

Admittedly, I'm anal. (down boys).
