You can unlock different destines at any time by visiting the destiny guy in the Marketplace (or wherever he ends up).  It will be just like changing your enhancements, except without a cooldown timer.

My reading was that the destinies were looked to class, or you had to do some extra shit to cross over into a destiny outside your class. My thought was it might be easier to unlock and level on the appropriate class.

^ This although it looks like some have pre-reqs.

Looks like it's more locked to spheres...  Melee, Arcane, Divine.   For example...

The Legendary Dreadnought

A character with 6 levels of Fighter or 18 levels of Monk or Rogue will be able to select it as their starting destiny, but anyone can gain access to it by going through Shadowdancer, Grandmaster of Flowers, or Wild Hunter.

That seems accurate. It looks like you'll only have a few destinies to choose from if you're, say, a high level Monk, but if you TR into Bard, you'd have a different set available to level, plus whatever you've already unlocked. So if you want to add abilities from the Druid ED, it may be faster to TR Druid and TR back, rather than taking, I dunno, Ranger ED, or whatever unlocks Druid for you.

Or you can unlock adjacent destinies by maxing one destiny.  See my post above...

I understand that, but my thought is it might be faster to just TR into a class in that sphere. Especially if it has a couple of destinies. It would be great if it was a PL that would help.

I was thinking of TR'g my blitz build, since the stacking rage got nerfed. I am going to wait now and see what destines come available that might help with that.

Yeah, that was the alternative option that I said. You can either TR a couple of times, or take whatever Epic Destiny bridges Monk and Druid (my guess was Ranger, but who knows). It all depends on how fast you can max the ED and what permanent benefits you get, versus how fast you can TR, and how worthwhile the PL is for you.

That's the potentially nasty part. I assume EVERYTHING in the 18-25 range is going to have MASSIVE SR (I'm seriously expecting min 50, probably closer to 75, or worse, they'll just make the yard trash immune to something silly like 6th level and lower spells) due to them finally putting in non-gimpy drow NPC's so every single caster out there is possibly going to need a fuckton more spell penetration/higher DC's for their spells and while at least one epic destiny seems to offer that, I can almost guarantee it won't be enough so you'll need multiple caster past lives AND the epic destinies.

There's a whopping THREE adventure packs plus a challenge pack in this expansion so I see them having a vested interest in it taking people a LONG time to complete.

(I also still want to know what this mechanic for poison saves via fortitude save is going to be too and whether or not "Proof Against Poison" will 100% mitigate it, my guess is NO, because making proof against poison completely useless in Faerun opens up a whole new tier type of gear and we all know what itemization is like in this game >.<)

Also, if you want to use Twist abilities from said tree

So, we go from having too little content 15+ to having too little content at 20+ where it is supposed to be twice as hard to level!  Not only that, you get to spend MORE time in lives that you hate.  Awesome for TR's!

Thanks, I think what I said still stands.

What I said doesn't have anything to do with comparing the use of a past life to the ED.  Reading comprehension, it is a God send.

Is TRing really going to be a big deal in the post expansion game?  Or are people going to focus more on grinding out other epic destinies to access those abilities using Twist of Fate?

It almost looks like the tiny bonus gotten from a TR will be eclipsed by the bonuses from Destinies to the point where past lives will be passe.

If the effects stack, yes TRing will still be worth it.  In my case I only have one 36-pointer and a few 34s so I'm likely going to pack on the PLs before I bother with this new shit unless the new shit is so ubber the PLs are a drop in the bucket.

From what's been leaked that's not the case.

It looks like it might be quicker in some cases, but we need way more details revealed before we know.

Look at a caster . . . anything in the ED that completely makes the 9 more spell pen you can get with PLs irrelevant?

Melees . . . not so much.   The stacking of multiple pally lives for stupid hjealing amp is probably the only one really worth doing.

why wouldn't you do monk lives? That's essentially six strength. It's like wearing a second claw set. I'm not sure how they are not worth doing. Fighter lives for +3 more to-hit +3 more combat dcs? Granted tactics have been nerfed to shit but I still see people using stunning blow. I don't think any past lives are irrelevant.

The thing is, you have no idea what the scaling will be like at 25.  Past lives will still be worth something.  As much as they were? Probably not.  Will they be useless? Far from it.

That being said, I will not object to any buffing of the completionist feat or any past lives.  Being that the completionist feat only gives +2 ability scores and skills, it has always been lackluster in my eyes.  That is why my guys have stacked past lives and slowly going for completionist instead of the initial haul for it.  Also, the person who put it ingame admitted they did it as a joke.  Which means, it could use some work.

We currently "crush" all the content in the game without it and the advantages now are much stronger percentage wise then they will be after EDs are available.

+3 to-hit/damage/tactics is amazing, is it worth 24 million XP?  it's maybe 1-2% more DPS now and that's gonna get watered down even more.

The caster advantages on the other hand are just give you more ubber for the effort, especially since casters are easier to level.

That is what I was kinda getting at earlier.  The APLFs aren't all that hot either considering they cost a feat slot (Some are though), & that same feat requirement diminishes completionist as well.

With the advent of the 'new grind', I suspect they may up the PPLF's to give a 3 stack bonus for 1 life and call it quits.

There was a dev post on this, but I think it was merged or deleted.  IIRC 1 epic level = 5 heroic levels.  And I'm assuming that it would be 16 thru 20.  Whether this is on a first life or 3rd life remains a question as well.
