Melees . . . not so much. The stacking of multiple pally lives for stupid hjealing amp is probably the only one really worth doing.
Lets start there...
+5 to Caster Level
+3 to Caster Level (School)
+3 to DC (School)
+6 to Casting Stat
+2 to Casting Stat for Levels
+200 SP
+3 SP for Piercing Spell Craft
Base SP Increase assuming 50 Int vs 42 Int = (25 + 9) * 20 = 680 - (20 + 9) * 16) = 216
(and 50 is probably low balling)
So that's +8 to Spell Pen (+11 in School), +9 to DC's (+12 in School) , 416 SP...assorted abilities
This doesn't account for new feats or Twists of fate or new gear.
So, sure after you grind all that out TR for an extra +2 SP but to say it's isn't marginalized...and Wizard is one of the better past lives.
Even fighter for Tactics, Legendary Dreadnought gives minimum +10 to DC's. The extra 3 from Past Lives...meh. Improved Sunder then Stunning Blow...
+30 HP for Barb, meh. Paly, Ranger, Rogue, Cleric...crap. Monk +3 Damage...do you see how much damage you gain from Legendary Dreadnought. +3 is a piss squirt in the ocean.
