On my monk I walked through normal.  Nightmare mode, the final boss of act 2, whatever his name is, destroys me.  Hits me for 3k+.  My hardcore witch doctor is running through content though!

Inferno is pretty nuts but I am enjoying it... Nearing the end of Act 1 and can't wait for the dreaded Act 2.

I have a monk and a demon hunter at level 34, 1st act of NM. The DH is my second character, and I have equipped him with 5000k buyout items from the AH. She is a fucking beast. I think I will try a Wiz next, but I am going to level the demon hunter some more. I ran her up solo and I am liking that class a little more than monk. My monk has crappy equipment though, and I think I could make him better.

wizard is fucking amazing. probably even OP (like in every game ive ever played). im doing DH next as well. prob do hardcore. BUT people on d3 forums are reporting unannounced changes in the update this morning... one being a nerf to wizards energy armor (basically i can never take more than 35% of my max hp from an attack). which really sucks because you get 1-2 shot by everything in inferno lol. even with a zillion armor and 40k hp. there was a wizard build that could tank with 4k hp and basically be invincible using energy armor and another ability. so probably why they nerfed it.  how it worked is stack only +dmg/+int items and NO vitality and all hp regen items. 4k hp divided by 35% = 1400. so get your hp per sec to regen that much and youre almost invincible besides to three super fast consecutive hits. but coupled with diamond skin (absorb dmg ability) it made you ultra tough.

Actually you can have the same uber fun experience with a barbarian - going with elemental resistances, high vit, fury gaining shouts and this earth slam abilty. Getting really ripped apart in those Kull ruins though...

A rant from one of my guildies.  This guy beat Nightmare on a barb in 18 hours then beat Nightmare on a wizard in 8 hours.

--

Don't get me wrong this game has a really cool combat system and its a ton of fun, they did all sorts of things right with the changes they made moving from D2 to D3.

But Diablo 2 was all about the loot.
And the loot in Diablo 3 is boring.
The legendary items no longer have any special attributes that are either fun or useful and since the base stats on all gear is completely random all the best gear is either blue or yellow (common and uncommon).
The only incentive for farming gear is to get an item that has a couple more of each stat on it which is uninteresting to say the least.

I am not sure how to explain this to anyone who didn't originally play d2 but for those who did they removed all the best unique attributes like crushing blow, open wounds, teleporting, chain lightning on hit, increase sp pools, mana shields, blind on hit, anything remotely fun or interesting and replaced it with at worse straight stats like strength or vitality and at best 1% chance to knockback on hit or 1% chance to fear. Which is terrible anyway since no one likes RNG abilities.

In essence the driving force for farming or playing d2 for any extended period of time has been completely removed, which means its just repeating the same content over and over for slightly higher numbers.

Which after reading this rambling post kind of translates into them turning this into wow.
Continual repetitive content for slight incremental increases on boring stats.

But I guess that is what happens when you get rid of blizzard north and get your WoW devs working on shit they shouldn't be touching.

Also the inferno mode is a joke, since champion pack mobs get stronger each difficulty with more mechanics but the end bosses stay the same people have just corpse hopped through inferno skipping all the trash (being the hard part) and just face rolled down the end bosses. What kind of game has trash that's 10 times harder than the bosses?

Of course its not overly surprising that they skip the trash mobs since they can literally one or two shot you, and no amount of gear will fix it the damage numbers are just that stupidly extreme. And there is no real incentive to farm the champion packs even though they drop the rarest loot because the rare loot is shit compared to the common stuff.

Though I have less of an issue with incredibly hard content, would just take me a while to work through it. More of an issue with the fact that I can farm for years and I will never find a single piece of interesting gear, because they decided that fun is overrated and would rather roll with WoW's idea of catering to brain dead zombies who enjoy repeatedly replacing full sets of gear with 1% gains at every tier.

In fact since World of Warcraft doesn't actually create new content they just rehash the same raids with different boss names its feels like they actually spent the first 8 years developing this game fucking around on their PS3s and XBOX's at work and then realized in the last year they actually had to release a game so just copied portions out of WoW and called it good. Which kind of explains why WoW's new talent system and Diablo 3's skill system are basically the same thing.
Same goes for the loot. Only thing they are missing from Diablo now is a subscription fee and then double dipping by also having an online store. Greedy fuckers.

Only good thing I can say from this is that since the loots boring and not really worth much they shot themselves in the foot because a hell of a lot less people (hopefully) will not actually use the real money auction house.

They also knew the community hated the current loot design because they put all the loot up on their website 12 months ago at which point the entire community said fuck off the loots boring. Blizzard responded by taking them down and saying they were placeholders and in 12 months they managed to not actually change anything. They followed this up with condescending responses of working as intended and the community doesn't know what fun is and Blizzard knows best.

I really wonder sometimes about the environments that these fuckers work in because all you ever see is these pictures of game console rooms, pool tables, massage chairs, in-house therapists and all you can eat buffets fit for a 5 star hotels, they pretty much look like holiday resorts as opposed to places where they should be chained and whipped so they can churn out games for me to play. And maybe you other people as well. But mainly me.

I guess what I am really saying is I want a job at Blizzard. A place where you can fuck around all you want because the company has set a history of taking ten years to create a game they could have done in two.
A company who gets the highest preordered game in history because 15 million simpletons got free copies for signing up for another year worth of WoW so they don't need to enter a rehab for game addiction withdrawals.
A company who doesn't give a shit about game reviews because their name is so big now they could put a new cover on vanilla WoW call it Titan and sell it to 20 million muppets because its has the name Blizzard on it.
A place where they don't seem to have to answer to customers because Blizzard knows best and the customer doesn't know fuck all. Which sadly is actually true in most cases when it comes to customer service for anything but doesn't mean we want to hear it.

I cant even remember what I was talking about at the start of this post because its 4am and I still cant get on D3 because the servers are down for the 5th time today. A primarily single player franchise that now requires online play all the time because Blizzard thought it would be a good idea to gouge the player base for more money on a virtual item auction house.

TLDR

Blizzard, I don't like Unicorns and Care Bears give me my fucking cow level back.

I couldn't use the auction house because my battle.net account was flagged for hacking or whatever.  I guess that 3 day time period years ago, when I tried wow out, opened me up to getting hacked.  Good stuff.

Blizzard accounts are notorious for being hacked.

I am glad they didn't require any information.  I had a parental lock on mine.  I read that to get it removed you had to send in a photo ID and some other crap.  Since I use fake information for sites that would have screwed me over.  Fortunately, a polite complaint in a ticket caused the customer service rep to just remove it.

i suggest you all get authenticators lol. eladium is right about blizzard games. theyre so huge and profitable for selling that they are good targets for hackers. and so many people torrent and go to unsafe shady sites like porn and get keyloggers on their pc. or are just really dumb and click stupid ass random links from their emails. there is a free app if you have a smartphone.

Thanks, but authenticators are easily hacked as well.  Making them a giant waste of money.  I believe I read an article about them getting hacked as well for blizzard.  Also, random links in emails are great.

Cool story bro moment!

So a friend of mines gf was cheating on him.  He wouldn't believe it.  So I said (knowing how stupid she is) that I could prove it with her email address.  I sent her an email from what appeared to be hotmails.com or something like that asking for username and password.  The reason was because hotmail was recently hacked and they had to check email addresses for security purposes.  Sure enough, that same day, I had full access.  I printed off the mails and handed them to my buddy.  Never has it felt so good to take advantage of someones lack on intelligence.

This usually works better with security questions btw.  You know, if anyone is interested in it.

This isn't entirely correct.  Authenticator technology is essentially bullet proof in and of itself.  It's been used for over a decade to secure VPNS and High Security systems.  The problem as with any security measure is it's only as good as the client system that is using it.  Most 'authenticator hacks' are actually hacked PC's.  The hacker already has control of the client system.  The hacker grabs the user info and authentication code with a keylogger and uses a man in the middle attack to send the wrong info to the authentication server preventing the right full account holder from logging in while logging in on their end using the right info.  They then quickly pillage the account.  People scream my authenticator was hacked when in essence the authenticator worked fine but the PC was compromised.

With millions of users many barely computer literate, I would expect a high percentage of them to have infected PC's.  Just based on my own industry experience, most home users are extremely vulnerable and have poor security practices.  All I would have to do is create some 'utility' for Diablo III that's infected with my package and I would likely get a few thousand downloads.  This is big business for these guys.

With a real money AH, I'm sure the hackers who specialize in gold farming hacked accounts are extremely excited and active.

AFIAK the Blizz authenticators are either the key fob type, or the mobile app for android or iphone. They have a dial in authenticator, but it only works with SC2 and WoW. I am using the mobile app for my android. It seems pretty tight.

I use Bioware's Mobile Authenticator for Android with SWTOR.  It's nice and it's free.

I totally agree with Carpone's guildy.  I have not even finished my Normal runthrough because I keep stopping to play DDO.  The items aren't fun and I just get bored easily.  I just wish they had done something crazy revolutionary between D2 and D3 - you had 12 fucking years.
