Back from a short holiday. Given that I really dislike . . .

1) Randomly dying from 1498 points of falling damage

2) Getting stuck in geometry

3) Clearing a dungeon only to find the quest mob(s) stuck in geometry and undamageable

4) Zoning into a dungeon to find a red alert and every mob in the dungeon agroed on me

. . . how playable is the game currently?

It seems the bulk of the official forums whinge posts are about the above. Are these just the demented ramblings of the lunatic fringe or is it a sign that Diablo III is calling to me?

The falling damage is real. Happens mostly if you're in the habit of jumping around a lot while you're moving through dungeons.

Getting stuck is also real. Stay away from walls and keep any important mob or NPC away from walls. It seems to be mostly collisions (eg between players and mobs) that ends up with someone stuck in a wall.

The red alert and mobs casting through walls was fixed with the hotfix, doesn't happen anymore.

If you are on a high latency connection, the lag makes falling death and getting stuck more likely to happen.

They fixed #4 in about a day.

#1 I've had happen/seen happen a couple of times, but only rarely.

#2 has happened to me three or four times, but infrequently enough that /stuck or a well placed ddoor has been enough to escape.

#3 has happened to me exactly once, although it was a hilariously unfortunate situation: shroud part 2, gnoll got stuck in a pillar. We completed anyway, thanks to the magic of hitboxes, but it took some time.

In summary, the game isn't very broken atm. I wouldn't worry about it, although others may have had different experiences.

Haven't seen, possibly fixed

2) Getting stuck in geometry

Annoying but avoidable

3) Clearing a dungeon only to find the quest mob(s) stuck in geometry and undamageable

Bothersome but not game breaking in most cases

4) Zoning into a dungeon to find a red alert and every mob in the dungeon agroed on me

Fixed

Thanks all. May take a run at it tonight and see how high the frustration meter hits.

A question I forgot to ask  - How bad did the physics upgrade screw with ladders?

The old ladder bug is practically nonexistant now - I've only had it happen one time since the physics update.

On the other hand, there's a new ladder bug that can cause you to slide down a ladder when you try to jump on it. Seems to happen mostly only to players with a lot of latency (lag). Aiming for the very center of the ladder (as in not left/right) can mitigate.

I've gotten stuck a lot lately.  It seems to happen when I get laggy, then rubberband into the wall.  Got stuck in the lever in OOB, but /stuck fixed it.  Epoch was nice enough to run back and point and laugh at me.  Then was soloing in Rit Sac this weekend and, while fighting the first named gnoll, rubberbanded and was underneath that big rock.  I was able to walk around under there, but couldn't get out.  I tried /stuck, but was told I'd already used it that day, which is weird considering I hadn't used it since OOB 2 days before.  It wasn't a big deal since it was the first fight so just had a do over.

I'm also hearing this a lot. Seems /stuck is on a 24 hour game time counter and not a real word clock. Or perhaps it is just borked in true Turbine fashion.

Having monsters get stuck in walls and screw up a completion isn't new to this update. I've had it happen on several occasions well before. I'm still waiting to experience the magical falling damage. If someone's gonna test that one out, it should be me.

It could happen before - rarely - yes. The frequency of stuff going into walls is a whole new thing with the physics update, though.

Prior to the physics update, I had only once been stuck in something ever - Harry teleporting me inside a pillar in p5. Now either myself or a mob is getting stuck every few hours of playtime.

I did a wiz king earlier and was kinda stuck in a wall but my screen mostly went grey. I could see my mini-map and move outside of the boundaries of the quest map freely. Then I was randomly ported out to the phoenix tavern (I believe I was bound there?).

1) never encountered so far.
2) last mob stuck in wall was a devil in shroud p4... month ago... just left him alone a few minute and he ported back to where we were. Not a problem.
3) never encountered so far.
4) never encountered so far.

Admintedly, I'm spending a lot of time in SWTOR compared to what I used to spend in DDO... but that's because I want to get to see as much as possible of the game while my time card last.

Yep happened to me the other day. It ported me back to Korthos, even though I was bound in the 12 Cheesy

Was funny cause it was in a pug and I was accused of piking! Grin Cry

Maybe. I actually haven't seen it at all since the update, but I had it happen multiple times in about a two-week span previous to the update. Are you sure it's not single-perspective bias? I obviously can't say for sure, but I know that I've been running a ton and no one has had this happen. I'm sure it IS happening, I'm just not sure it's definitely happening more as an aggregate over the entire server than it was before.

I got stuck in a wizard king too. Wondering if there are specific quests its more prone to happen in, or if its a lag artifact when the game reconciles your position as inside of an object and likely to happen anywhere.

Took something like 3200 points of falling damage in one of the depths quests. Only time that's happened to me so far.

There's tons and tons of people complaining about it on the forums. If there's a bias, it's probably yours, sadly.

I've had it happen twice in Lava Caves, but that's probably due to the amount of Lava Caves I've been playing. Otherwise it's been in a different quest every time - often times nine farms of a quest will be fine and one out of ten someone or something gets stuck.

I was clipped with the falling damage in one of the shadow tombs in Necro.  Stepped off the small 6 inch dais at the start, fell and broke my great grandchild's neck by taking 2874 damage.  I know, I know, I should have taken more toughness and put that extra point in con.

I had a buddy fall through a hole in the sands yesterday, somewhere on the undead side, not sure where he ended up.  At least one other person got stuck in a quest and walked their way, but ended up outside of it.
