I know that this xpac is a big deal, but I am still a bit surprised that so many ppl want to log into DDO.

Yeah, but its been hours for some. 
And Load issue at noon on patch day?   Seriously?   This is the biggest patch in years and its not even prime time.   Imagine the load this evening.

You neglect to account for folks like me who generally start the launcher before they leave for work so that it will connect and patch while we are at work.  I'm sure there are a lot of us who do this.

theyve been doing mmos for 12 years now... even with AC it was like this almost every update day every month. would think turbine would've gotten it together by now.

started computer when back at home from $ork...
started launcher, went to take a bath.
when back game was updated and ready to launch.
