The Channel is a 50Km gap between France and England.

It is crossed by the Channel Tunnel ( also known locally as the Chunnel ) that carries High Speed Train ( Eurostar and TGVs ) the Travel time between London ( St Pancras ) and Paris ( Gare du Nord ) is 2H30. 
Thus making Air travel between both city redundant. [  1 Hour to go from London Center to Heathrow, 1Hour+ Queueing/Security/boarding, 45 Minute flight to Roissy, 20 Mins to get back the luggages, 45 Minutes to Gare du Nord. ]



People actually come to my hometown to train to swim the channel, it's near one of the largest/longest mountain lakes in the civilized world (very cold and high altitude).

Now the new CE channel is really amazing.  It already has Draz in it and that makes everything better.
