Now you can pay $10 to play it on the computer too!

You know, because Emulators are so very hard.

Depends if it got a graphics and resolution upgrade...if I can play at 1680x1050 and it looks good, and with a controller, $10 is worth it.

find a decent emulator, with a decent graphics plugin, set the native rendering to w/e the hell you want.

I'm still waiting for them to re-release it with the graphics they showed in the Tech Demo for it, but they turned that into Advent Children Undecided

Even Dirge of Cerberus style graphics would be fine, so long as fucking GACKT doesn't own the soundtrack.

I wouldn't care what the graphics looked like so much if they didn't look so dated. Everything is square shaped. At the time it was cutting edge and it was easy to immerse yourself in but nowadays it just looks cheesy. As for the original soundtrack, I thought it was brilliant and if they ever made a new game I would hope they didn't change it too much. Perhaps flesh it out more, but nothing with lyrics.

Anyway, for nostalgic value: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qnyxd7Vq0Q

I have yet to play a game that emotionally touched me as much as FFVII. I'd like to convince my girlfriend to play it but I doubt she has any interest. But can you think of anything from any game that has been as tragic as Aerith's death? I can't  Sad

FF6. Two scenes. Both can be missed depending on what you do.

There's Celes' despair when she loses all hope and attempts to kill herself. But the most touching part is of Locke's dead fiance Rachel and the long quest you can go on to resurrect her. Locke and Rachel have the saddest theme song I've ever heard.

There's also the part where Kefka poisons the castle and just laughs and laughs as the characters show up.

And FF8's story.

And FF10's story, and the ending of 10-2, but the game sucked.

Aerith's death was tragic due to the way it was done. First Cloud is mind-controlled into attempting it, and is stopped. Then Sephy comes down to finish the job.

Well, I still have the four cd set sitting on my bookshelf.   Grin

Or was the PC version they released about 10 years ago completely different from the console version?

I never finished FF8. I should take a week off from this game and play that just so I can see the story. I wish that all the FF games came out on the PC. I would love to actually finish FFX too, I really love that game.

I just love Final Fantasy in general. Grew up playing those games.

Take my advice.  Stop at X.  X-2, 12, 13, and 13-2 are not the Final Fantasies that you remember.

10-2 was very gimmicky.

12 was really a lot of fun and Balthier is the greatest FF Badass of all time. The autobattle system took a lot of the difficulty away once you figured out what you were doing though.

13 is VERY storyline driven up until the end, which is very unlike the other FF's where free roaming was the norm from the beginning.
