2.  You can be a meta-gamer and not use a traditional min-max optimial build.  Optimal is defined by your playstyle.  Many of the best non-traditional builds really make use of the latest and best gear to make them hum.  In fact, by combining multiple PL's, end game gear, and ED's you can create some top notch end game toons that do not follow the cookie cutter paths of Tank, DPS, Support.

Two-Three years ago I would have agreed with you now though where VoN 3 is a 7 minute TR XP farm and you blow through the new stuff for 2 minute completions on EH, I just can't.  Support and CC and anything else is virtually meaningless with the game is so dumbed down and easy.

You might want to start as the same race. That will make it easier to find each other at first.

meh, after the first quest, its easy to go to the hall of honor and get to lions gate, and then the world is open for anything.  Make whatever you think is cool looking.  I really wish my guardian was an Asura at this point.

Well this does it for me. I found the internet hole to shove my money into; the game is downloading now.

I'm sick of the waiting around in DDO. Last night I spent more time tweaking an AHK script (now that that is legal) than I did playing the game.

The instance free mechanic makes the whole server your party.  There's always people running around so you can run around by yourself with virtually no problems.  Your storyline is also solo - you can take group members in with you, but if they have the same storyline as you (i.e. same race and starting choices), your choices won't effect them; they'll still have to run it themselves.

Can you confirm if the name Fishtank is available and if so, reserve it...

I don't care about Von3 as a 7 min TR XP farm.  The quest was not designed for multi-TR twinked toons with greensteel.  If they scaled it to that audience the quest would be impossible for newer players on non-TR's with at level gear.  As level 9 flagging quest to the earliest true raid, it's fine.

Now the House of Rusted Blades and Death Undone thing is stupid.  No way an EH (level 23) quest should be so easy.  I'm OK with EN being somewhat easy, but not a 2 minute completion.   EH should require some coordination and tactics.  EE should be something you have nightmares about.

I agree that the challenge level of the game has dropped dramatically.  I'm not sure if that is because of the power creep on the player side or a weakening of the mobs/quests.  They could definitely use to re-balance the challenge level offered at EN/EH/EE.

Just planning contingencies if the current trend of the code going down in flames continues.  Not ready to go out and drop $60 on a whim quite yet

So the trend of bad code has been 2 years.  Exactly how long of getting kicked in the nuts does it take?

It hasn't been that long. It's only been at the point of really interfering with game play for the last couple updates.

Depends what you mean by monklike.  No, there is no monk class, or unarmed fighter.  Yes, there are alot of classes that focus on melee dps and high survivability.  The thief or a mesmer with Sword/sword would fit I think.

There are no announced professions yet.

Nope. Nor does I seem to fit in with the theme. But what do I know?

Apparently, many of the skills, spells, and abilities are tied to weapons.

For example, your caster (an elementalist or necromancer, most likely in GW2 terms) gets access to 5 spells depending on which element they are attuned to (Air,Water, Fire,Earth) for each weapon.  If you aren't holding the right weapon or currently attuned to the right element, then you can't cast a certain spell.  Like healing rain.  You can only cast that when you are water attuned and holding your staff.  If you are fire attuned or holding your dagger or sceptre, no dice.  The dagger is mostly single target/close range stuff.  The staff is AoE/long range stuff.  The sceptre, kinda in the middlle.

Given that this is the case, I'm not sure how unarmed combat would would work.

It depends on what you have equipped. And you have two weapon sets that you switch between to handle different styles.

Hell. Sometimes It feels like I only cast three spells in an entire quest on my wizard.

Yes.  Player skill is clearly a factor.  Some cannot handle more than 3 spells.   Grin

In every quest, my FvS uses Heal, Cure Serious, Mass Cure Light, Mass Cure Moderate, Mass Cure Serious, BB, Implosion, Cometfall, Searing Light, Divine Punishment, Divine Favor, Divine Power and Destruction.  That's just off the top of my head.  There are probably a few others.  But then I melee, have a high necro DC, evocation DC, high Spell Pen and occasionally heal people.  You might play your divine caster differently.
