I loved the original and the sequel.  Two of the games that totally captured my interest.  It looks like Firaxis might be able to recapture the feel of the originals with some updated technology.  It looks awesome:

This might be the impetus I need to spend the money on a PC upgrade.

Its not "exactly" like the original but they kept the spirit and fun of the original intact.  The stuff they cut mostly didn't add anything to the greatness.  As far as game modes, classic is fun as hell but can be a BITCH if you get upset every time you lose a squad member, normal is a bit easy if you play a lot of tactical games.  If you liked the first games, get it, its XCom at high rez and that is worth it.

If you can't afford a new PC and you have a PS3 or XBOX 360, it is perfectly playable on the PS3.  I can't speak for the XBOX version since I don't have one.

Perfectly playable on a HD4650, barely any difference from my HD6850.

Really enjoying it, lost 3 countries from the council but that only made it easier to keep the rest happy. Sucks when you lose a Major or Colonel but it is fun and luck can easily swing combat either way.

I was disappointed with it, but did enjoy the game.  It's definitely fun, alot of what they took out did make sense, but it just dosen't feel as immersing, or as replayable.  I will say I'm not broken up by paying full price like I was with those broken Fallout games.
