I canceled my DDO sub. So now I'm looking for a new fix. The halfling is on a nicer schedule, so I have a chance to actually game again. Any suggestions? Preferably something that is not nearly as reliant on co-op as DDO is.

This.

The OP said she didn't want a game that relied on co-op play. Isn't GW2 an MMO that relies on co-op play?

At least in DIII, you can solo through the entire game. Can you say the same about GW2? I don't know. I'm just asking.

Yes, you can. No need to wait around for a group for 90%+ of the content, because it's all a persistent world. Dungeons are the only content that you need to have a party to complete, but they are 5 man and you can take ANY combination of classes.

every class has an ability slot for self healing, you can't do anything with that slot other than heal.

There will be some random world events that are easier with others, but in no way do you "have to do those".

Partying in GW2 as best i can tell is only so you can see your friends dots on the map, the entire game is rigged, so that if anyone nearby sees a world event, they'll flock to it the same as you will. Whilst there, you're all helping each other achieve the same goal, partied or not.

Eventually you will run out of solo content though, at level 80 now, i'm finding spvp rather dull, and world vs world isn't my cup of tea either.

I do however only have 60% map completion, so I've got 40% of the game left to go explore and see through, not bad at all considering that it'll probably take me another 3 weeks, and the scenery is much more varied than diablo III.

edit. my class is warrior, only class i've played

Five DPS build warriors would have a tough time.  They could pull it off if they played well together, but it wouldn't be pretty.
One tank-ish build warrior, one support build warrior, one control build warrior, and two DSP build warriors would have a walk in the park probably.  They may have some issues with condition removal in some of the dungeons, but it wouldn't be that bad overall.
And yes, you can build any profession for support, any profession for control, any profession for DPS, etc.
The people claiming that the professions have no depth and no customization have no fucking clue what they're talking about.

What Levistis said. I've been playing a bunch, and I have an overactive 1-year-old that pretty much makes any coordinated grouping impossible.

Yup. One warrior could be all tanky, as Cale mentioned. And for support you could have a warrior with multiple physical skills (sorta like Stunning Blow/Trip), another with banners (buffs and rez capability), and another with shouts traited (shouts are AOE buffs that can be traited for reduced cooldowns and healing).

Ok, I was leaning toward GW2 thanks to a friend's suggestion...this basically clinched it. The hubs might play D3 when he gets back from deployment, if it's up my alley I may do that too.

D3 is fucking awful.  Total piece of shit.

GW2 is amazeballs.  No need to wait for a group - like others said, with a persistent world, everyone on the map is your party.  You don't need to make the kill to get the xp/cheddar/whatever, you just need to damage the creature/participate.  Need to randomly afk?  No worries, even if you're in a party they're not reliant upon you (dungeons are a special exception, but they do not make up the majority of the content).

I really liked D3... for about a week. Great fun, running around, blowing up mobs in different ways.. but when have to run the whole story 3 times just to get to endgame (Inferno difficulty), started feeling like TR grind.

I'm about a week into GW2, still loving it, maybe because there is still so much to explore and do. I'm basically reliving my GW1 main (a ranger) and have just hit the low 30's and I'm not even close to the end of the game.

So, D3 is faster paced, but GW2 has more play value, IMHO.

Totally agreed.  I love that I'm able to explore everything and get rewarded for it.  About to hit 50 on my ranger and still have so much left to do and I'm having a blast doing it.

Torchlight 2 is everything Diablo 3 should have been if you like the genre but not that game, and yes I have played both.  For $20 its pretty easy to get into.
