That would be the ideal solution but my wife steadfastly REFUSES to give ANY money to Apple. I'm screwed.

Awww, that's only the first partof the saga... gotta wait for BG2:EE.
Will still prolly grab this once the dust settles, since I never really played through the first one (I did - once, and after BG2:SOA, so I wasn't really paying much attention).

I have a clean house, and the kid is with her father, BG here I come! It was my very first computer RPG and I love it.

You can put it on as many computers as you want, you just have to download it from their site, and it runs with no client. That's DRM I can deal with lol. Everyone in my house is getting this game.

Awesome!  Love the Icewind Dale/BG games.  BG2 was my favorite ever.  For pure D&D ruleset and turn based action, I liked the Atari Temple of Elemental Evil and the wheel UI they had was kinda cool once you got used to it, but the Infinity Engine games were the best from a total experience.

A couple of friends and I are going to play a multiplayer campaign every Monday (or Tuesday - undecided yet) night, then import our characters into BGII:EE when it's released and do the same.
I'm not sure if we'll have any party slots available (three filled with possible interest from four more), but if anyone is interested in joining let me know.

I might be interested if there is an available spot.

so this game uses AD&D 2E rule set?

how different would that be from DDO besides there being no monks?

AC is vastly different, also it is turn based. Some of the spells (friendly fire is the biggest change)are different and the feats work differently in some cases iirc

There are monks in 2nd Edition they were just in a supplemental and not in the core book.(Same with Sorc's)

There are monks in this enhanced edition - even a monk group member who can join your team

Yes, this is the SOLE reason I bought this. I'm really looking forward to playing one in BG on Christmas Day!

i think each player just gets their turn as based on their initiative score +d20 roll same as enemies.\

its muc like PnP DnD

so if you were fighting zombies ad I casted wall o' fire, you would get burned from friendly fire? is there dam. reduction from it or is it pure "well son ya fucked ur team up?" Undecided

I donīt know if it was in Icewind Dale, in Baldurs Gate or NWN, but you could choose in settings what D&D rules. Choosing "easy" would mean that you cannot have friendly fire.

fire resit and protection would work the big ones are running through cloud kill and blade barrier, which are quite different than ddo

OMG, you just reminded me of my first discovery of friendly fire in BG2 where Blade Barrier was concerned!  I had forgotten all about it.

Anomen had levelled to the point of getting Blade Barrier, and I had gathered everyone for buffs before walking down to a red drgaon to talk smack.

I got everyone buffed up, Anomen was in the middle of everyone else, I had him cast blade barrier - boom!  Everyone ripped to shreds.

For the uninitiated - Blade Barrier surrounds the cleric and moves with him/her.  More like a force field type effect.

Once I learned that, though, he became my undead Cuisinart.

And I lost the party to friendly cloudkills probably half a dozen times before I figured out what was killing them.  Cloudkills in DDO are extremely weak in comparison.

Lightning Bolt - not for the faint of heart Cheesy
