Pretty much how I feel...yesterday through Monday off...and no DDO.  I've been catching up on Star Craft II in preparation for the expansion that comes out in a month...hell...next month is a good month for new games. New God of War, SC Expansion, new Sim City...don't hate on the Sim City....  Cool

I will be getting the new sc2 as well, great game! With how little I get to play ddo, usually like 5 hours a week now, I was really looking forward to 4 days of ddo. Instead I got like 12 hours total. Horseshit I say.

Who can hate on Sim City? Build a massive city then cause many natural disasters to fucking destroy billions of small pathetic lives! The game was fucking made for me. They had me in mind when they made it.

I saw a blurb about the next Sim City being always-online (progress saved to server) and no save games. Which means no wrecking your city and restoring the save. Bummer.

nothing new here... Steam Powered probably... which means always online.

last time I started CIV V that fucking steam didn't want to start until I was net connected... and I then had to fucking wait for an hour so that it could update itself, and that fucking shit had re-eneabled the 'always on net' that I had to disable again.

I want to be able to fucking play fucking single players games when I'm fucking away from any fucking net connection. With shits like Steam it's becoming impossible.

/rant off you can go back to do what you want.

Always-Online is here to stay so we might as well just accept it and get used to it.  PC game companies have been struggling for decades to kill piracy and they finally found a tool that mostly works.  It changed the rhetoric from PC Gaming is dead to PC gaming is the future.  Companies aren't going to backaway because a few people complain.

I just got that impression after you spent 13 pages calling out eladiun for being an interwebs bully when anyone who's been posting on here already knew that.  I mean, he's proud of it and hardly tries to hide that at all.

Flav has succinctly captured my absolute disdain in the highest of terms for always online single player games of any kind. /thread

It doesn't prevent piracy - there are ways to either proxy and MITM or just out n out lie to the always on single player games (see cracks on USENET all over the place) - thus it only inconveniences the LEGIT customer.
