If GW2 were written by Turbine

I find myself thinking things like this every once in a while when playing GW2.

The "Morgan's Orchid" jumping puzzle would make you drop the orchid with no warning message any time you fell off, and physics would recalc half-way through every jump.

I LOVE the jumping puzzles in GW2!  Mostly because their physics engine isn't totally fucking borked with invisible walls and invisible barriers around everything.  You can even swap equipment halfway up and not end up in Argonnessen rubber banding back to Korthos.

Yeah, that drives me bonkers.  But underwater combat!  Which isn't just land combat with a bubble and slow run speed.  Could you imagine DDO recalculating your weapons and abilities when you jumped in and out of water?

Dammit!  That was another one I wanted to put under this thread title but forgot till you mentioned it.  Underwater combat that's more than just running around slower.

How about the fact that if you are in JUST the right depth, you can use neither land nor underwater skills till you decide which you wanna be in Cheesy  I should hate that, but I actually find it cool.

I think the worst part is how excited they were about their abortion of underwater combat.  It should have been a clear sign how out of touch they are with their player bases and reality.

Fernando was almost as excited about underwater combat as he was about the sexy ass half elves!

Oh I fully fell for it - grabbed my UA item, ran out to and through the fens, jumped in and... "ok, where is the _real_ underwater combat?"

To be fair, Breaken was just as excited as Fernado because he could finally express his true sexuality in game.

It took me a while to get over the jaded feeling of playing a turbine game.  Logging on after an update or (free!) expansion and having it work? wht?

Underwater combat isn't that hard.  'Underwater' is essentially just a state of being applied to a particular range of locations.  It doesn't change a dang thing about combat.  All it 'should' change is the animation associated with the location range.

Well, one of the reasons we (D&D fanboies/fanhoes) were looking forward to underwater combat, is that things were supposed to dramatically change for underwater combat.

Firewall/fireballs go away.  Lightning bolts have the same area of effect/damage as a fireball, but with electric damage.  Etc, etc, etc.

heh, yah - it took me about a half hour to work up the courage to cast an electric spell underwater... I thought for sure it was gonna be Quake and the lightning gun all over again.

Gawna has pictures of my helf somewhere. I remembering posting a pic of him with Fernando's excited face next to it and quotting his line about them being sexy but it was cubed...

Huh, you learn something new every day - I had no idea there was a sexual preference for Barbie-plastic, slightly mongoloidal emo's with feliculitis issues.

Absolutely.  Because you would think that a game introducing underwater combat as a BIG EXCITING THING would at least incorporate and build on some of the concepts that were developed 15 years ago.

He didn't say he had a preference, He just hyped up the helf's as being " youthfull" and "sexy". Mine was just a joke he had blonde womens hair and black beard stuble. He was like hulk Hogan with more hair, less muscles and much more fabulous.
