It would definitely drop the hatred level...
Well fixing the 3 divines ( Cleric, Paladin and FvS ) trees so that :
- Clerics have healbot, Melee, offensive Caster trees
- FvS have Melee, defensive caster, offensive caster
- Paladin have an offensive buff tree, a defensive buff tree and a holy warrior tree
would result in about 80/90% drop in hatred.
Add something for dual rapier wielding rogues that is not assassin or pole dancer,
Tweak things so that we don't have to waste points on useless crap ( there's always something like that in all the trees, it's either between tier 3 and tier 4 or between tier 2 and tier 3 in some trees you have to waste up to 10 points in shit stuff to get back to interesting things )
And you'll get a convert.
Or, how about DROPPING THE STUPID FUCKING PRESTIGE-TREE MODEL ALTOGETHER?!? FFS, you're trying to polish a turd here.
It's already the case that abilities which have been fundamental to classes for years are split across multiple trees, and the incredible lack of imagination displayed by whoever came up with this festering blob of sputum has resulted in the remainder being largely padded with fucked-up useless prerequisites and totally worthless crap. What in the name of stainer's nipple do you think we'll end up with if they create yet another fucking tree? You'll have to spend so many points to get something you care about that your build will end up even more of a one-trick pony.
It
doesn't fucking matter that some builds work out just fine and others don't: it is not individual classes that need fixing, it's the whole fundamental approach. As it stands, a true multiclass like a 12/8 split is going to be able to select from three of four trees, and a three-class split gets three of six... and there's NO GOOD FUCKING REASON OTHER THAN A SHIT UI.
Yes, caster clerics (to take one example) are ass-raped with a cactus, but - speaking as someone who very much loved his caster cleric - even that is a side issue.
Any class could get fucked over by the stupid intrinsic to one tree. The problem here is much, much bigger; the asinine design is proof-positive that whoever came up with it doesn't understand their own fucking game.
As DDO has a 3-class limit, three trees would be just fine if there were one per class, just like there is now. It would be incredibly simple to throw out the useless crap and end up with just enough good shit for one tree each. Some enhancements could lock out others and there could and should be so much stuff you want from each class tree that you can't afford even half of it without going pure, but there is literally no sodding need whatsoever for the retarded limitations that were in place in the alpha. The power you can derive from a class should be limited by the number of levels you take in that class, not by the amount of space available in a vomit-inducing GUI.
Some people are happy because
their favourite build isn't feather_of_sun'ed, others are looking at the things you can do with the new approach, but both camps are missing the point that the underlying design is asinine. After all this time waiting for the enhancement pass to happen, it's completely fucked-up to
not rage about the unnecessary limitations in what they're presenting. They could have enabled people to build a larger number of viable toons with interesting abilities, but precisely the opposite is happening.
TL,DR... Hoping for yet another tree per class to fix the steaming pile of ratshit that is the enhancement pass is like accepting that they're going to cut your legs off if only they'll give you a broom to shove up your ass to go with the crutches. How about you hope that they
don't cut off your fucking legs?
PS: Flav, this isn't really directed at you, yours was just the last post I read along those lines. I'm just generally pissed that people are starting to accept the idiotic limitations inherent in the design as though there's some good reason for them when there's absolutely not.
