3GB?  Wow, you’re being really generous there.  Try 1GB.

95% of the players quit playing, so of course they don't experience lag.

It is the 1% stupid fucks like you spouting rubbish about never having the game crash or memory leaks as if that is 95% of the population - and Turbine believes only you.

Every person that I have known - or surveyed at conventions (3000+ when I stopped counting) - has seen the game crash, experienced lag, and/or has been able to replicate the memory leak issue by just logging characters in and out.
Holy fuck, get your head out of your ass and just look at task mananger as you log a client in and out... Why is the working set building up to 3 GB and you start experiencing rubber banding / UMD issues?  Poor programming: They don't release the memory properly and their bad memory manager has issues juggling it all.

It isn't physical memory as I have 12GB and I can run 3 other clients fine... until I start logging them in and out and run up their memory usage.

Player population is not down 95%.  That's asinine.

I never said that I have NEVER had a game crash.  But it has honestly happened maybe twice or three times this year.  Not enough for me to call it "Game Breaking".  Sure it happens.  Happened at one time or another with every PC game I ever played on occasion.  If it's not even a monthly occurrence it doesn't rate as "Game Breaking" in my book.

Again, with lag, I even said I do get lag occasionally.  My point was that I disagree with the "game breaking" label.

I also have seen the memory leak.  I get that, too.  But again, is it "game breaking"?  Or just "kinda annoying"?

I'm not saying the game is perfect.  I'm not saying the game doesn't have bugs.  What I'm saying is that they don't really affect my enjoyment of the game all that much.

Group 1:  The hard core elite farm EE loot and sell it for TP Codes.  They don't spend a cent on the game.  Some don't sell EE loot for TP codes, but only pay for a ViP Membership or content as it becomes available.  Total spend: $10 per month or less.

Group 2:  Players are buying $20 and $50 TP codes to get EE Items rather than farm them and paying for content or ViP memberships.  Plus Ottos Boxes and store XP pots and mana pots.  They are spending $100+ per month on the game.

Guess which group is the one that hates Turbine the most and is the most upset with the state of the game.

Hint:  It's not group 2.

Hint:  Turbine cares more about group 2 than group 1.  Guess why.  $100 > $10.  Nuff Said.

Yet just based on stuff I've sold for TP in the past month, Turbine have seen $300 directly based on those trades. Yes I don't spend any money on the game, but there are enough suckers lovely clients willing to pay good hard cash to Turbine for my characters amazing loot luck (6 Globes and counting on a single character)

They are only suckers if they can't afford the $50 they are spending.  If someone has plenty of disposable income, it's really not that big a deal.  It's only a dumb idea if you don't have any savings or have credit card debt and auto loans and such that you haven't paid off yet.

Sorry I still can't get the craptastic taste out of my mouth at the thought of having to pay for ANYTHING after being a VIP for 6 years.   I can obviously see the little game they are playing with the free to play people... but they clearly overstepped the line by sticking it the VIP's with this whole bundle two packs together throw in a fucking monkey and call it an expansion.   I play every now and then and its always nice to meet new people in random groups but there is no way in hell I am forking over 50 bucks for anything new.   I almost laughed my ass off after spending 4000 of my saved TP's to get to the fucking Farm/barn that they call Forgotten Realms.

EDIT:  WOW I love being able to curse on this site!!

This is quite 99% of the issue. At the end of the day, in a "normal" mmo you should be able to say "Well, okay, but if I were VIP...". Not in DDO. Being VIP in DDO is really being fooled again and again. Lucky me that I canceled my subscription after 6 months.

SWTOR made me want to throw my pc threw a window specially since one of my characters is currently stuck on voss since I didn't realize when I changed over to Freemium that I didn't unlock the transport back to the main city and that the lovely little devs decided to take my fleet pass away since I no longer am a subscriber. So I said f that game and haven't played in a while though I really wanted to get my trooper the hell off Voss. I am trying to save now too many games on the horizon and a growing kid to support and I have spent way too much on gaming the last few years.

As for DDO their fucking up is coming at a great time for me I no longer  feel the need to buy a ton of crap in game or even play all that much so its working into my budget.

It's not my fault you were born one gigantic asshole..

I never said they were "facts".  It's all opinion, obviously.

Just FYI, the statement "95% of players are happy with the current game" is not an opinion.  It is either true or false.  Considering no actual data or reproducible methodology was used to arrive at the value of 95%, the statement is very likely to be false.

As I previously stated, prior to your posting, I should have use a more generic term rather than a specific number.  A number implies a level of detail or certainy that did not exist.  I should have said "the overwhelming majority of players I speak with".  Not "95% of the players I speak with".  The second suggests I was keeping accurate data and doing the math.  I was not.

Yeah - part of the reason I cancelled my ViP was because of this. Pretty much the ONLY reason I went ViP in the first place was to not worry about whether or not I owned a particular pack. VIP meant I could run any quest any time I wanted, at any difficulty I wanted. I went ahead and bought MotU, but decided that if they brought out another "Expansion" that had quests that VIPs wouldn't be able to run unless they paid MORE money, I'd cancel my subscription. Between that, the disaster that will be the Enhancement pass (at least for my clerics) and the way they borked casters in U18, it was an easy choice.

I think there are some logic flaws in their ViP/Expansion purchases program, beyond the fact that it sucks for ViP's to have to pay for content unless it is a major addition.  It's my understanding that you cannot access Eveningstar from the harbor without owning MoTU.  If that is true, you could, conceivably buy the new expansion and not be able to access it because you don't own the first expansion.  Also, you could be ViP and have the right to run Druid's Curse and The High Road, but not be able to get to them, since you don't own MoTU.

Beyond the Rift is listed as a F2P quest, but, as I recall, the menu option in the Harbor doesn't allow you to go to the spinner's prison unless you own the Expansion Pack.  I could be wrong.  If so, ignore the above.  I don't have any accounts that don't own MoTU, so I can't test it.  All of this is moot while the portal is up in the harbor.  I am assuming that will go away, though, when Spinner's Prison is fixed.

You are indeed wrong, and everything to get access to Eveningstar is F2P and can be accessed without owning the expension. I have met a VIP player who didn't own the expension just today, and he was at the king's forest entrance wondering why he couldn't go in.

Did they take the portal that was put in to bypass the broken Spinner of Shadows quest or did they actually enter the rift?

Cool.  I wasn't sure.  I know it always says (MOTU expansion pack) in parenthesis behind going to the Spinners Prison to go to Beyond the Rift or the Eveningstar Cavern.  I didn't know if that meant that people without the pack couldn't get there.

Public instance areas shouldn't be part of P2P/Expansion content.  Just the adventure areas and quests.

Of course it changed. It was supposed to come out with the first xpack. I hold no faith in when or if it's coming until I login and see it there.

How do you know how much I'm playing DDO, Ravot?  The fact that I don't know what a non-MoTU player can't do is only proof that we all are mostly unaware of the game experience for others.

Someone like you, who 6-boxes EN FoT's and EE quests to farm loot and sell it for TP, is not the normal player by far.  And I'm sure small changes like the Shiradi nerf have a huge impact on you to the point you call them "game breaking" while most of us just don't care or see it as that big a deal.

Likewise, I make some observations + a few assumptions and then state my opinion (like it is fact Smiley).

You're right that shiradi nerf affected solo players disproportionately, but you're wrong to think that that's the only source of discontent.  I only really started farming gear after epic GH, but this game has been going downhill long before that.  It feels that every update has made this game worse by introducing bugs, introducing P2W or just fucking with game mechanics unnecessarily and devs showing that they plain don't care.

Empirically, you just cannot say that DDO is doing well.  MMOdata shows a subscription peak in 2010, but unfortunately doesn't have data for 2013.  However, it's pretty obvious that population has been down since 2010 and U18 did next to nothing to get people interested again.  If hardcore players only make up 5% of the base as you say, then it isn't the hardcore players that are making DDO a wasteland, it's the so called casuals who are playing less and leaving for other games.

P.S. mmosheet.net shows DDO population down about 40% since 2011 (LoB/MA).  Go figure.
