This is heart-breakingly sad.  I won't even buy it if it were 1/4 the price.

Really, really really sad and lame.

Most of that stuff is redundant.  Character slots, tomes of learning, a bunch of cosmetic crap and companions?  I'll go with the basic pack.  The other pack just isn't worth the extra coin.  I go no problem spending money on the game since I enjoy it.  I'd drop $50 for new content and some cool stuff.  I'm disappointed the pack has so much fluff in it and very little of substance.

The pack isn't *that* bad, but I won't be dropping cash on the "Legendary Upgrade" - unless I can get someone else to buy it for me of course!

They really made it redundant with the MoTU pack in a lot of ways, though.  The Tomes of Learning were in that pack.  So I have all I need of those.  As a VIP (don't need character slots) and someone who doesn't like companions and cosmetics, there's just not much there.

It's OK.  All I really wanted was the quest content anyways.  Some extra TP is cool.  I'm sure Otto's Boxes will make a return at some point.

I think it's kind of obvious that the denizens of the Shadowfell are the ones conspiring.  It would be like saying Mars attacked Earth.  Well, of course it didn't (unless the planet spun out of orbit and slammed into the Earth).  The people of Mars attacked the people of Earth.  It's short form to identify a group of people by their place of residence.

It would be like saying Germany attacked France and France surrendered.  It is more accurate to say The Germans attacked the French and the French surrendered like little school girls.  Same basic concept.

The $40 add-on is hilarious. As if $50 for the "collector's edition" wasn't sad enough, you have to blow another $40 if you want an owlbear hireling.

The Shadowfell isn't a heterogeneous entity like some lawful hell plane.  It has numerous factions and powers.  With all of FR available, it doesn't even make sense to tap the Shadowfell as the source of the next Big Bad.  Is it the Shadar-Kai under the auspices of the Raven Queen attacking?  a cult of Vecna?  or are they just doing some generic undead necromancer lich crap?  Meh, I still think it's  a crap name.

I wonder when the epic tomes of learning and skill tomes will be in the store and at one TP prices. If they're buyable w/ TP's that makes the higher packs much less attractive.

Bah, nevermind I just read it closer.  They are using Shar which makes sense since they are on the 3.5 timeline.  This probably means Selûne will make an appearance as well.

On second second thought, the quest line descriptions are all about the Netherese.  What year exactly is this FR timeline at?

Funny, since SWTOR's expansion cost subscribers $10 bucks and probably had more content in total.

Not even a little bit tempted.
Far too little, far too late - at least for me. And after the utter clusterfuck that was/is MotU... I won't drop a dime on a pack like this ever again.

I kinda think it's hilarious that they are finally adding in the heavily requested Wizard's Hat, and it looks much more akin to a Dunce Cap - also requested on occasion. Smiley If they added an orange-version it'd look like a traffic cone.

The only nice thing I can say is that the Owlbears look nice. The Art Department remains DDO's best asset.

It looks to me like the owlbear hireling comes with pre-order before August 13th and has no extra charge.  Did I miss something?

That's the creature companion. The hireling like the onyx panther is part of the $39.99 additional pack.

My personal opinion is that they expect and influx of new players that want to play the new content and they're wanting to get them right into that content. I'm fine with that goal though I'm not sure I like how they've implemented it. I don't mind the LR/TR restrictions now that I've read the dev diary and how TR and especially LR 'is a priority'.

I fucking laughed at this.

Although a TR ran over the side in ADQ1 last night while trying to break an urn. So new players don't have a monopoly on spectacular. To his credit he didn't blame lag.

You get an owlbear cosmetic pet if you pre-order, but if you want the hireling, you gotta pony up an additional $40 for the "legendary add-on".
