In fact my comments weren't about physically setting up DDO to have multiple instances running from one directory, it was about the management of 6 characters.  The irritation of trying to run all 6 to loot chests etc. 

Without a auto-follow it's a real nightmare

Just wanted to let everyone know - this is still working and the augments you get are BTA.

I tried buying one just to toss it up in the ASAH but no luck there...happily I still have an extra +35hp augment for later now. If I'd known they were BTA though I would have bought one of the harder to get gems that you can't just buy at a vendor.

Generally, you kill the mules, pick up the soulstones, raise them at a chest, kill them, rinse repeat. You don't need autofollow when they're in your pack.

For public areas, the mules have Teleport and autorun. If you're baller like Zonixx, you can Greater Bracelet of Friends.
