Ok, grey mouser, whatever the hell you guys did during the network maintenance, good job.

Logging into the game 2 times now has been a fast event for once. No "not responding" in the game window after character selection. I have yet to try zoning into necropolis or sands, but I have seen on the official boards people say that they are better too.

I am gunna run to the bank and see if the bank/TR cache loads faster.

Edit: Ok, zoning into harbor from Korthos was much much faster. While still a little bit slow, the bank did load the TR cache faster. Zoning from Harbor to Market was markedly faster, didn't even have time to get a fresh cup of coffee.

But in all fairness, there is only 1 market and 1 harbor instance up on Thelanis right now (2 am PST).

But sweet jesus. Logging in to house C went fast, and entering the crafting hall? That was like greased lightening.

I may be premature, but whatever 'network maintenance' you guys did, thanks a shit ton for it.

Yeah, I went deconstructing yesterday evening ( for me ), and I was all the time WTF, I didn't wait 10 seconds between putting the item in the deconstruct slot and clicking the button...

For a few minutes I was wondering if it was because the number of people had dropped dramatically, but after checking it didn't seem so...

Maybe they finally created the fucking views and the indexes that were missing in the database.

I am hoping they addressed the memory leak too, maybe even upgraded the servers finally? But yes, it is so nice to feel the loading times be what I would call normal, but in all honesty, as long as I have played this game, I have nothing to compare this fast as shit loading to.

Pretty fucking nice and actually makes it easier to want to play when I don't have to find something to fill the loading times with, lke watching youtube or porn or something. Smiley

Well I didn't notice the loading time... I divided it by 10 a month ago by moving everything on SSD...

Fucking P2W if ever I heard it.  Spending money on an SSD to reduce loading times is MORALLY WRONG.

Don't bother trying to deny it either, you open-walleted sheep: however you describe your activities, I will slightly redefine P2W every single time so that what you're doing is that thing.

It's a slippery slope.  Next you'll be spending money on "a faster processor" and other things that are currently 'optional', but only drop in stores and never in-game.  NO TO SSD's: it's the beginning of the end, I tell you.

Did 6 character swaps, and my scroll wheel didn't stop zooming in/out too.

I have been playing for 3 hours now, this is about the longest I have been able to stay logged into the game for 4 or 5 months now without being either DC'd or having to close the client and restart too.

It sure is fuckin' pleasant to play like this.

Did I mention buying an SSD ?

In fact I reinstalled my 7 year old XP... with a Windows 7, and while I was doing it, I tucked in the 3 SSD drives that I had sitting there. The only thing I bought was the Windows 7.

Well When you consider that forementioned computer that got a boost with an SSD drive is a 8 Year old Pentium D 930 ( that's two P4 HT on the same die for the ignorant ), and that since then processors are not going faster ( actually most of them are slower, don't have HT, and some have more 'cores' [but based on PIII cores]) , why should I  buy a Faster Processor ?

When I initially installed that PC it had several ( up to 6 ) U160 15K 36Gb HD and two MO Drives... ( along with a sata drive )... so the SSDs are just replacing the SCSI chain now.

I’m also finding that DDO doesn’t like AMD processors.  The time it takes for DDO to unload from active memory on my AMD based HP (About 2 minutes) and my Dell T3400 (About 20 seconds) is a night and day level difference.

Ah, you should have said.  Stealing 2 Win is perfectly acceptable.

As you were.

Did you have to break the shop window to get them, or did you just run out with them under your coat?

Does Windows 7 drop in-game?  I don't think so, or if it does it's at about the same drop rate as Yellow Dopant.  Pay 2 Win CHEAT!

Yup, DDO actually runs faster on my old XP laptop with the mobile P4@3.2 Ghz than on my new(er) laptop with a Core i5.

Cheater.  :p

I never said Stealing either.
Now I will plead guilty of Cheating.

How I cheat is my secret.  Roll Eyes
Lets just say that I have a way to transform broken 2,5" HDDs into  brand new SSDs.
And I regularly manage to put my hands on 2,5" HDDs.

And DDO don't care about the number of core, it's a single threaded process, so any powerful single core CPU ( like any high end P4 ) will do better than multi cored CPUs.
( well now with CrapomiumProcess it has changed, and multi core is better... But as most of them are still slower than my old CPU it doesn't matter much. )

( oh and yes XP is better for DDO, I went for 7 because I had the SSDs and XP doesn't have the TRIM )

Indeed, DDO now runs Awesomium (embedded Chrome browser) in multithreaded mode. Awesomium does have CPU spikes - probably when DDO tells it to refresh in the background - so multicore definitely helps if you're not killing off Awesomium.

So Far killing the spiking awesomiumshit hasn't crashed the game for me...
( I keep the other 6, I just kill the one that regularly eat up CPU time )

I can use the store, I can summit bugs, I can open the splash shadowfail screen.

Consider that I have boinc ( Seti@home + LHC@home ) running on my computer, and I don't disable it... I don't see lag ( except the rare occurence of server wide lag and the heavy "mass spells everywhere during raid boss fight" lag )

Whatever they did, it rocks. I can even switch gimps more than 5 times without increased ram usage on my monster PC from 2005. Banks/TR caches load faster too.

Good for you guys, my new gaming laptop still experiencing lag delays, while the other laptop on the same network, same OS, same brand and a previous model, is not having delays.

Firewall is off, anti-virus is off, I don't know what is the problem anymore.

Video settings? They might have entirely different video hardware and react differently even if the settings are the same, too.

"Lag" is about as unspecific a term as you can get.

you might have a problem with the network card...

If it's wifi, it might be because you're on a saturated channel, while the other uses another channel.

Oh and also walls can be a pain with Wifi...

My parent could barely browse on their PC at home because the router was in one room and the PC was one ground up, beyond two stone walls ( mainly basalt )...

I had to explain them radio wave propagation in the 2GHz domain, and that tucking the PC in the corner of a room, surrounded with 30 to 50cm thick stone walls was not a good idea if they wanted the wifi to work.
