Guild renown decay has taken a vacation! Starting today and running through the launch of the Shadowfell Conspiracy expansion on August 19th, guilds can enjoy a decay free summer! During this time, regardless of guild size or guild level, no guilds will be subject to renown decay rates of any type. Gather your guildies, seek out old members, and have fun together this summer!

Well Y haven't pre-purchased yet... while I did pre-purchase MoTU Collector.
I'm still not sure if I go standard or collector for Shadowfail... without the Drones ( that I'm sure, I don't need useless drones that will take up 2 Bank space )

It is a good start. MajMal did tell us things were changing around there, all I can say is keep showing us the good faith that you are doing what the player base majority is asking for.

A real easy way to do that is to start using fucking polls more often, polls the players can look at and see the results on.

But then the cynic in me says polls won't matter either. /sigh. results can be fixed to appear that players want what is being forced down their throats anyway.

Edit:  Not sure if this has been brought to light either, but shadowfell will have both heroic and epic content too. I thought it was all heroic before so just thought I'd add that.



Shadowfell Conspiracy will include 10 Quests and 2 Wilderness Areas in addition to the 1 prelude quest currently available with pre-purchase. The quests will have both Heroic and Epic versions (except for the prelude quest, which will have a Heroic version.)

Yeah, I wouldn't buy astral shards from the store but this may make it possible for my 1 person guild (3 if you count my 2 kids that rarely play) may finally hit 55 with this change. If we do then that's 1k astral shards out of the economy as my current astral shard balance of 1,002 will go down to 2. Tongue

Guild Renown Changes

XP curve Changes (looking for feedback in advance).

XP earning changes with sagas, etc. (looking for feedback/advance warning of something on lama)

Supposed changes to Enhancements based on feedback (lama will tell soon)

Epic TR options looking for feedback, and apparently considering other options.

It's early but there seems to be more communication and more looking for feedback with the players.  I like what I am seeing from them in regard to communication and feedback, even if some of the ideas (Epic TR loss of XP, I'm looking at you) are not up to par. 

The problem is that we have seen Turbine make sporadic communication efforts in the past, but not seen sustained effort.  Is this an "oh shit we are losing our player base" knee jerk reaction that will disappear if they can reverse the current trend or is it a change at an organizational/process level that will be ongoing?  That part remains to be seen.

That quest XP message from PurpleFooz is the type of communication I've been wanting to see for a long time. They could save themselves so much doOOOooOOOoom and ill-will just by listening more, and throwing out early plans to let people kick the tires. Knowing the rationale is huge - if I don't like a change, but can understand why it was done and what alternatives were considered, I can live with it more easily.

All changes in the game need a message like that. Major changes (like the TWF nerf or AC) might need one every week for a month or two, to allow for response and evolution of the change. I'm tired of building characters, gearing them, and really getting to enjoy how they play just before the nerfbat hits, or there is a major gameplay change because some dev wants his work to replace whatever was built by the previous guy (enhancements, crafting, Epic TR, level cap increases, etc).

They have to really change their mindset to get the devs and community team to stop fearing / despising the playerbase so much. The devs also need to avoid getting so wedded to their ideas that they are immutable by the time players see them.

They need to focus on making the game fun for a change. If they put half the effort into fun that they do on squeezing more money out of players, this game would kick ass.

QuartermasterX I believe stated that "epic" might not be in the expansion content when it launches. It depends on if they get it done or not. If not a few updates after that it will be in.

That's the problem in itself. Turdbine takes 1 step forward to making things right, then foot in mouth moments where they take 3 steps back right after that.

They would have to prove consistent in there changes to make people come back for more then a glance.

+$ Cordovan added my edit to the shadowfell FAQ today. That would be a complete fail if it doesn't make it at this point.

Won't happen, it has been stated numerous times that the tokens of the Twelve were an Eberron only thing.

How about they consolidate their shit and replace the epic tokens with commendations?  eVon6, eChrono, eDQ2 could all drop Heroics (potentially).  The other ebberron epics could drop patron based commendations (Kundarak Comms, Denieth Comms, Phiarlan Comms, Free Agents Comms, Silver Flame Comms etc).  That can be used to barter for whatever the current tokens can get.  Hearts of Wood, Augments, etc.  Maybe use the patron comms to trade in for seals or shards that you are looking for.  50 House K comms for a Shard of SoS.  You get 1 per VoN 1-5 run.  Sign me up.

How about they consolidate their shit and turn the heroic comms into raid tokens? The other Eberon epics dropping patron comms isn't consolidating, it's fracturing even more making as many new currencies as their are factions.

If there's a glut of tokens at the moment, jack the prices up upon initial release and bleed them out. The reason why there's a glut is because there hasn't been enough to spend them on in the past. After the first patch, drop the price some, and after the second patch, drop it to it's final stable level. Then the New update has new shinies that command the 'early adopter tax' until an economy stabilizes. People whined about Raid Token Fragments. Turbine's response was a "Fuck you. Fine, have full tokens, they'll be useless though since we'll make new Commendations instead!"

This also has the added benefit of turning LoB, Chrono, and VoN into relevant raids that aren't just run for shits and giggles.  Yaaaa, there'd be a robust 'end game' again.

How about they simplify their shit, and stop shitting the bed by adding new shit with every shitty update.

Right now we have shard/seal/scroll epic items, we have ready-to-go epic items (King's Forest commendation turn-ins and MoTU loot), we have EN-EH-EE loot from more recent updates, we have two different systems for epic challenge loot with no overlapping ingredients, commendation upgrades for epic raid loot, tiered epic gear from LoB, and probably a bunch of other systems I've forgotten.

I've been playing almost 4 years and can't keep track of them all - and that's just the epic systems. I hate to think about the million-and-one different heroic crafting systems and Cannith crafting. I pity newbies to this game.

I remember once upon a time when I started the game in 2009.  I asked if there was crafting and was told that there was, but I wouldn't see it until end game (shroud).

Today, the question isn't "is there crafting", but `kwhich crafting should I give a crap about?"  As far as I can tell, the only loot people should give a crap about is cannith crafting for leveling gear and get-whole-items from gianthold and FR epics.   The only reason to get something scroll-seal-shard is if you've already been chasing it for years and have 2 of the 3 parts.

That would be awesome. I took advantage of the nice fot raid and got nearly 300 comms on all 6 alts i play. Would give me a use for them now.
