Release Notes: Update 18 Patch 2

Welcome to the Release Notes for Dungeons & Dragons Online! These release notes were posted on Monday, June 24th, 2013.

News & Notes
Of Special Note

VIP Weekly Gold Roll

Once a week, VIPs now receive a free roll on the gold treasure chest of daily dice.

  • The daily dice window will display "VIP weekly" text when you are eligible to use your free VIP gold roll.
  • Using this weekly VIP gold roll will NOT expend your free/discount roll for the day.

Enhancements

  • Spell Critical Enhancements for chance and damage multipliers should be both displaying the correct text and functioning correctly for all classes.

Hirelings

  • The Owlbear Defender hirelings (both level 17 and 25) have had the following changes:
    • Armor Class significantly increased
    • Fire Absorption increased from 20% to 50%
    • Cold Absorption increased from 20% to 50%
    • Acid Absorption increased from 20% to 50%
    • Electric Absorption increased from 20% to 50%
    • Sonic Absorption 50% added
    • They now have limited ability to heal themselves when at low health.

Items

  • Goggles found in random treasure are now once again cosmetically visible.
  • Corrected issues with Red and Violet Leaf cosmetic armors so that they no longer show up as Gold Leaf by mistake.
  • Items that can be equipped to the Cosmetic Headwear slot which have unique powers now automatically recharge 30 seconds after use.

Quests and Adventure Areas

  • Captain Hillard in the quest "Shadow of a Doubt" can no longer be killed by shadows (though he can still be taken out of the fight.)
  • The Spinner of Shadows no longer goes brain dead when confronted with too much power, and the quest is once again available. The magical portal shortcut is no longer available.
  • Lizardfolk in Escape Plan should no longer free nonexistent prisoners

Skills, Feats, & Abilities

  • The non-functional, non-takeable feat version of Ten Thousand Stars will no longer be listed as an option for monks taking their sixth level.

Monsters

  • Monsters will no longer proclaim strange 4th-wall things during combat about squirming and nodes.
  • Monsters no longer continue their actions when hit by crowd control effects. The previous fixes in earlier releases only stopped their movement, but now they actually don't finish their attack or abilities if a crowd control effect interrupts them.

Other

  • Moving around will no longer break induction bar-based objectives.
  • Fixed "The" feather_of_sun'ed loading screen tip.
  • Fixed embarrassing typo ("Aumanator") in character generation screen.
  • Fixed a crashing issue related to wraiths.

Wow, I never thought I'd see the day they got this working...

But did they actually fix it? How many times have they supposedly fixed this bug now?

Funny, I was just coming in here to post that I don't believe they'll ever fix CC.

Now now, lets not start hallucinating quite yet.

Some CC bug fix does not warrant a foray into a dream world where the mother of all bugs is fixed. That's just crazy talk.

You're not going to hold that against them, are you?  All they need to do is fix their fixes and everything will be just fine!

In the one instance, against that one monster, with that one spell, on that one day, with one specific type of character(namely a DEV character with godmode on) it specifically worked.

Of course, the next day someone went and changed that one monster and that one spell to break it.

So, it was fixed at one time but no one knows what happened since it was fixed.

The release notes have struck me as more fanfiction then anything else for a while now. In Star Trek, they claim Kirk and Spock share sweet sweet man-love... in DDO they claim to fix bugs. Neither one ever actually see the light of day as fact. Just makes for some thing amusing to read and speculate on "what if".

Are you sure that they have always moved after Stun or Trip?

My memory isn't the best, but I'm pretty sure that this was new after the TWF "enhancements" in Update 5.

They have been doing for as long as I have been playing.  I started in 2008.  Paralyzed mobs would slide and be able to complete attacks after paralyzed.  It seems to mainly be stunned, held, paralyzed, or stoned mobs.  Tripped mobs, due to tactical, comet fall, greater command, etc, do not seem to move much, if at all.

Before this patch, tripped mobs (eg archers in CITW) could slide half the map on their back after being tripped. Dunno about post-patch, guess I'll see next time my fighter is off timer.

They have been moving as far as I remember... Well they didn't have any problem at first as all the above effects weren't in game...But as soon as Paralyzers came in game, mob started moving while paralyzed.
Yes I talk of a time when Retribution from Threnal and the Threnalian War Blade were weapons of choice for capped characters, and SoS was the wet dream of all the two hand fighters ( but Velah was bugged enough that they ended up dead in the marketplace most of the time )

You DO realize the patch that supposedly fixed this was applied TODAY right?

they are claiming that the movement after cc has been fixed in a previous patch. todays patch claims to have added

"Monsters no longer continue their actions when hit by crowd control effects. The previous fixes in earlier releases only stopped their movement, but now they actually don't finish their attack or abilities if a crowd control effect interrupts them."

to the previously not working fix.

Nah weapon of choice was a wounding of puncturing or vorpal, rr of course. And a loot run meant ransacking the 2 giant caves, a wiz with ck was god-like
