I DC'd in the mirror one, cam back with no mirror and had to pike the rest of that quest.  What a stupid fucking quest mechanic.

The Wheloon chain is all shit anyway so meh.

I like the Wheloon chain.  It's good content, for the most part.  I like that they are doing some different mechanics.  I notice that they do a lot of gates, waves, and such to prevent Zerg to the End type of questing.  It's almost impossible to trigger dungeon alert in most of them.

Waves are fine, but spawning 40 mobs at once in EE "What goes up" for instant red-alert is just dumb.   This engine cannot handle that many objects at once.

Had someone ddoor back to the beginning after this happened to him. He either got a new one or found the one that was in his inventory from the beginning.

Have we run the same quests ?
When I ran them on heroic elite for favor (to see what was the 500 favor reward), I don't think I went a single quest in wheloon without hitting red DA. In some of them, the DA came instantly because of one or two waves of mobs spawning, not because of any zerging on my part, too.

Today was the first time I was on since U19 came out; EE Wheloon was cake. There was no challenge aside from the dungeon alert, significantly easier than EE GH. I hear Storm Horns is at least a little tougher.

The "pay 15 cents to teleport to the quest" needs to die.

Wheloon needs teleport markers like Stormhorns.  Also, the Wheloon wilderness dev needs a punch in the dick.  Creating frustrating zones to promote your "spend 15 cents to teleport to the quest" bullshit  is terribad design.

Also, the Shadowfell graphic effect needs to die in a fire.  I'm surprised no one has started a thread about it triggering epileptic seizures.

Has anyone come up with a strategy for beating this that isn't a blood bath?  I'm not above cheese and exploits at this point.

I ran What Goes Up on EE earlier tonight. First time in the quest for 4 of us. 2 had run it on EH once, so we had an idea of what to expect. But that last fight got ugly quick...

The trash mobs respawn about as fast as you kill them. But they don't spawn more mobs if you don't kill them, except for a small number of Netherese mages. You need to have one person gather aggro and kite the mobs down the ramp and run them around (or possibly even perch somewhere). Maybe have a second player follow them to heal or take the aggro if the first one dies.

Everyone else stays up on top and destroys the flight engines, then fight the boss for a while. He will stay at about 90k hp's until the ice eles are killed. When the Shadervoi or whatever they're called spawn, try to seperate them one at a time down the ramp and kill. More mobs will appear, so somebody else can kite more or take them down to the first kiter. Kill the boss, loot.

Like I said, it was our first time in there, this was what we observed and just made it up as we went along. But it worked for us, I'll have to try it again and see how well it goes. Good luck with the boots.

It fires randomly, you can spend hours in there before it fires... And then it's Purple Haze time, that also can lasts for hours.

While soloing on Llamaland, it would only trigger when shadows spawned around you. Killing them would end it. On live, shadows seem to be less visible when not attacking and randomly run away. In a group, it would be very easy to lose a shadow somewhere in the wilderness.

I really liked the Wheloon end quest. Reminded me of Inferno, except more fun. The shadow beholder looked really cool.

End fight was really easy though.

The mages were only respawning because we were killing them. If we had gone to the trouble of taking them to the mob babysitter - they move super slow with their caster AI - they wouldn't have respawned.

Once you figure out the babysitting and the phases of the fight, it's really easy - pillars, ice ellies, shades.

Babysitting the trash is definitely the correct strategy for What Goes Up. Poor design marring an otherwise really nice quest.

EDIT: It's also wise to not aggro too many ice ellies/shades when they spawn, even after trash is out of the picture. Sticking close to the ramp seems like a good idea - if the group is up top somewhere when the boss hits a HP threshold and the ellies or shades spawn, you had best bail off the top quick or you're going to be bailing off the top as souls to get to the res shrines.

I've got some REALLY cheesy ideas involving intimidate, ddoor, and the safe spot.

And yes, if this is the best way to handle stuff the encounter is broken.

Oh dear... Cheesy Ideas.... I love that ( and I'm just at the cheese part of the dinner... Now I have a tough choice : smelly cheese, running away cheese, tough cheese, ... Well I have 6/7 different kind of cheese in the fridge, most of them being of the Can't be imported in the US for sanitary reasons category. )

Anyway, cheesy tactics are bound to be eventually hotfuxed ( or patched ).

Edit : went for the smelly smelly cheese.

EE Tracker's Trap.  The Red Named Hill Giant had like 350k HP.  The optional Red Named Druid, 280k (ish).  The End boss, was 240k(ish).

The two non-end boss red names are too high on HP by at least double.  Neither presents any challenge on EE.  It's just a long ass beat down.  I think I nodded off during the hill giant fight.

It's just poor design.  The most devastating mobs in the whole quest are the Shadar Kai Assassins and their chain attacks that hit multiple times per second for 800-900+ each.

I did this on a pug EE with 4 DC wizards, my AA Ranger (Snookie) and some divine like thingy.  I think somebody did actually fall asleep during the beat-down.

But in a group with more than person actually built to do damage it's not that terrible.

I don't think the assassins would be that terrible if they actually had a weak save . . . but they don't.  They're rogues so I understand the great reflex save but the high Fort and Will don't make any sense.

I do find it weird how some goth-looking homo-rogue is more devastating swinging a chain than the EE LOB.

Only after the first adopters find a back up tactic and its been around long enough for them to use it into the ground, or in the case of some quests, never.

Well considering that they finally removed most of the safe mushrooms in VON3 last year....

Eventually they will fix it so that we have to do the quests the way they wants us to do them.
