The enhancement pass is the best thing to happen to DDO in a long time.  There are some turds that need to be polished (Tempest tier5 sucks donkey balls!), but overall it's a great change.  The worst thing about the enhancement pass is that it demonstrated how fucking complex character building is in DDO.  That's one of the biggest draws to the game for me, and I imagine it's one of the biggest barriers for new/casual players.

Sadly they will be taking these away eventualy. They make the heroic experience feel new again. It is part of the reason why so many peeople i know have been TR binging. Much more so than they would normaly.

But people hate to see others having fun.

Honestly though, turbine likes it being out there for the time being. At least until they sell  enough epic destinies and it is to their advantage to sell EDs and the packs to level them with.

I'd bet quite a few of the people who had horribly broken builds just said "Screw it I'll TR that one and save the LR+20 for when I get it to almost what I see I want or to get a quick past life"

I think it may have been the straw that broke the camel's back... some people weren't into DDO that much anymore anyway, and decided it was easier to quit than rebuild 5, 15, 25 characters. Forcing every single character in existence to be rebuilt is bad, even if the new system is better.

Respectfully disagree. I think it was largely a waste of time, ruined a lot of people's loved characters and didn't even do what we all wanted - finally finished the content of it.

You know what I think would've been better? Finished pres, an improved but not totally different user interface, better information about how feats, enhancements and whatever link together especially pre-requisites so building is easier to understand, and at least two new classes and races each. That would've been sooo much better. Keeps building interesting, refreshes things, doesn't break known and used game mechanics, introduces more options.

Instead we get this. WOW's old system only worse.

This.

(I disagree with the last part so cut it, apologies to cdr for that)

One thing for everyone who is a "skeptic" on this issue: Insurance companies are basing their underwriting on the assumption that it is real. They are refusing to write policies on homes that are likely to be in danger from rising seas 20 years from now, even though the resale rate of the homes is so high that they could keep writing policies for another 10 years and still not have to pay out on 1 policy in 5, but that would be irresponsible. Unethical, as well, but that's never stopped anyone before.

Since i don't multiclass most characters I have, I still have the +20's and will save them for later. Heck I just started using some of the free lr's given over the years with this latest expansion change.

The EP very nearly drove me away through rebuild fatigue; not the doing of it, just the prospect making me tired.  As it was, I just stayed away for a few weeks until the clever buggers here started posting mature build concepts, then just started adapting those  Cool

It was close, though; when you have only a few hours a week to play, spending evenings LR'ing and reading up on enhancements instead of stabbing things in the face isn't a very compelling prospect.

I, too, am stockpiling most of my LR+20 hearts Smiley

I don't know.  I've been saying for a while that power gamers are the worst customers Turbine has.  They don't spend money on the game (they grind gear and trade it for TP codes) and they are the loudest bitchers and moaners and the most demanding on content and on the game, wanting features that cater to the 1%.

They might not, but they farm out the gear that the more-money-than-time casuals then spend ridiculous amounts of TP codes/AS on.

They're more like unwilling corporate shills, if anything.

What?  You don't think 6 seconds of super melee dps with a two minute cooldown is worth it?

Yeah, me neither.  Bleah.

The thing I'm more irritated about, is that they took all of those type enhancements, and put them back on the "you have to connect when you hit the button or your charge is wasted and you're on timer for X amount of time" style.

They'd made a big improvement with those type things with the epic destinies, but then they took a big shit sandwich step backwards again.

Wankers.

For my "top 20" gaming friends, more than half expressed this sentiment, with the added dissatisfaction that it wasn't even finished and they are still making changes.

18 played DDO.
At least 9 were active up to within a month or 2 of the Enhancement Pass with a few more playing at least occasionally this year.

AFAIK, ZERO have logged on in the 2 months since the update, and if they have they are too embarrassed to admit it around the gaming table or on social media.

And considering we have 4 unapologetic WoW players and 7 unapologetic NWO players, that silence shouts.

I can't wait for the next Oracle update.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

No, apparently they felt "revamping" the existing system of obtaining True Hearts of Wood was much more important. Because, you know, that's all the forums have been talking about for the past year - that it was too easy to TR without spending Turbine Points and we wanted them to make it tougher... :/
