Yeah, you are mostly responding to dead posts from that era...

Have a cry because I responded to a post on the front page of a dead board without looking at the date on it. FFS.

And the next 17 times you did it, it was because?

One thing for everyone who is a "skeptic" on this issue: Insurance companies are basing their underwriting on the assumption that it is real. They are refusing to write policies on homes that are likely to be in danger from rising seas 20 years from now, even though the resale rate of the homes is so high that they could keep writing policies for another 10 years and still not have to pay out on 1 policy in 5, but that would be irresponsible. Unethical, as well, but that's never stopped anyone before.

Eat shit yourself. You don't need cocoon to survive. It's just such an easy button and tbh raiding doesn't feel like a 12 man group anymore but a bunch of soloers.

Cocoon is what UMD scroll healing used to be, the only difference being it doesn't freeze you for 3+ seconds while using it.

Asheras wrote on Sep 5th, 2013 at 3:04pm:
Disagree.  It's the worst idea since unlimited mana.  Makes the game stupid easy and removes any need for grouping.

As opposed to heal scrolls for which you didn't need mana. Yeah, really game breaking.

Heal scrolls required an investment in UMD and, pre-MoTU, typically item swaps for most barbs/fighters/monks/rangers.  And, as mentioned, it took you out of dealing damage for 3+ seconds.  And it doesn't have a follow on healing for 9 seconds.

So, one click of the mouse and you barely break your attack animation vs. stopping your attacks, swapping 1-2 items of gear, switching to scroll, scrolling, switching back to weapon, switching gear back, resuming attacks.  So you have somewhere between 5-7 clicks.  And you get one heal vs. 4.  In a heavy damage situation, if you needed to do it every 6 seconds, you would be losing 50% of your DPS vs. losing maybe 1%.

And the build implications on skill points and stat points is also not minor.

I think I can see why Krieg10 kicked your ass in the PvP-Pit on the Cavern.

Let's go all the way back...

... all the way to launch. Only four enhancment slots, level 10 cap, no raids other then TS, and a +5 weapon made you uber.

I mean, hell, if we're gonna go back - might as well start from square one.

QFT - the day the Devs started rewriting the rules and created enhancements to make their names instead of actually making a bug-free game that followed the rules pretty much sealed this as an "ok but not great" MMO.

They have no idea of game balance so they implemented "groundbreaking ideas" and had to back pedal so many times to fix their stupidity. The revolving Devs just rewrite stuff even more outrageous - witness the latest magic item rewrite. How many "ghostbane" items do people really need?  Shocked

Yet, I look at Neverwinter and shudder at how it has nothing to do with D&D. That was a WotC sell-out.

Thank you for making my screen have coffee on it. I should know by now not to sip coffee while reading The Vault.

If only it were true...  Cry

P.S.  I have a wife.  She would be willing to tell you in great detail all the times I have been wrong over the last 5 years.  She has a list in her head that is indexed chronolgically, alphabetically, by severity, and by embarrassment factor.  She can't find her car keys most days, but has instant recall on this list.
