Raid drops watered-down with skill tomes (Read 6763 times)

	On my 140th Abbot I was offered 6 items and renown: Breeze Purging the Pantheon Wretched Twilight Circle of Hatred Noxious Embers +3 Upgrade Tome of Constitution (+2 to +3) BTC +3 Upgrade Tome of Skill (Diplomacy +2 to +3) BTC Legendary Victory Others report getting similar 'lots of upgrade skill tomes' in raid 20th lists. So, skill tomes are definitely in the mix on raid loot now. Not sure if they are watering-down just the drop rate of the tomes or the entire named loot roll. Where's Rodrak these days?

	They probably zyngafied the Tome loot table. Before we had something like : 1-70 : +3 Tome 71-80 : +4 Tome 81-100 : Upgrade +3 to +4 Tome Now we have : 1-70 : +3 to +4 repair skill tome 71-80 : +3 to +4 tome 81-90 : +3 tome 91-100 : +4 tome Note as I am not Rodrak or more accurately I don't have a clue about what to look for and where in the files this is pure Wild Assed Guess.

	Raid drops for these seem like a total waste that would just piss me off unless they made them +4 or highers. These things drop like candy in quest and rare encounter chests. I have found 4 or 5 since the update. Every one has been a +1 to +2 or +3 to +4 for me. Meaning of course that you have to buy one from the store to use. What sucks is that unlike the store ones these ones come assigned to a random skill that so far has usually been the same as the ones I used that I got for free with the expansion. Seems like another marketing fail. If I got to pick a skill to go +2 to +3 on or even +1 to +2 on I probably would of spent a few Turbine points to buy a skill to upgrade. But instead I get shitty skills assigned to most of my found skill tomes so they just get sent to a alt to hold. I'm not sure if you can trade in the crafting hall but I still have some untradeable ability tome upgrades clogging my alts that I can't do anything with.

	Stealth nerf. Yay. Who knows what else got nerfed over the update. I noticed that Jeweled Cloak no longer stops Lolth beams from cursing me, but PLIS still does prevent curses. Storm Reaver's melee hits a lot harder now than before. luckily still doesn't have True Seeing, yet. The window to kill both TO and SR seems to have gotten smaller. Also, has any one noticed that Legendary Dreadnought has Unmovable and Thickskinned on counter for finite uses now, or was that always like that? Any other nerfs they slipped in?

	the only skill tome that could be worth having in the raid loot tables would be a +2 or greater umd skill tome. The rest are garbage.

	Soooo .... anyone know if you can make the fragments out of them? I haven't taken one to try myself yet as each time I had one I actually had loot that was worth taking instead. would be nice to know if these could at least be put to that use.

I tried putting a +2 Tumble Skill Tome in to crunch and had no recipes. So non-upgrade skill tomes are a now. My bet is on upgrade skill tomes also not working for that.

	Do they honestly think handing out +2 to +3 skill tomes of anything that isn't UMD / Spellpower related is going to sell anything in the store? I mean really I am not going to drop turbine points on a +2 tome so I can use the one I pulled to get a +3 to Swim or Jump.

	Skill tomes are the lamest thing they have invented. Outside of a very small set of skills that are heavily build dependant (UMD, Perform, Search, DD, Intim) I can't see why anyone would spend money on these. What's next? Saves Tomes? +1-+3 on your reflex/Will/or Fort save? Damage Tomes? AC Tomes? To-Hit Tomes? Spell DC Tomes? All of those sound totally ridiculous, but would all sell better than skill tomes.

	ROFL I would not doubt that we will see Save Tomes at some point actually. +3 Reflex anyone? Seriously I joked about how the would eventually just let you buy skill points, around the time that +4 tomes came out, because it would be cheaper than buying the stat tomes to bump up CHA skills a couple of points. Now here we are, and I honestly never thought it would actually happen when I said it. Other tome types are just a natural extension of the path they are walking down now and I can only imagine the PayToWin cry that will accompany them.
