Are you a pro multiboxer?

When you log out the other accounts upon entering the quest, do you go to each one and menu -> logout? Or X the program?

All members stepping into the quest scales the dungeon up, but does logging out scale it back down?

Is it better to wait right outside and zone in for boss fight?

Any tips or considerations?

Main goal is to level multiple characters, occasionally do extra loot pulls, and maybe some starting buffs.

Log out the extra accounts if you feel the need to avoid scaling.  (yes they don't count when logged out)

Log them back in within a few minutes of quest completion and they get the quest xp.  (no optionals though)

Just log out and leave them at the character selection screen.

I enter them into the quest.
Make them leave.
Make them re enter after it's complete.

Works brilliantly. (no optionals)

Fuck all the logging and memory leaking.

As long as they were in the quest at some point, they'll get the xp when reentering after completion.

For myself, I'll either just leave them at the front of the quest logged on, or I'll hit the logout button on each one after I zone them in and hand out any buffs I might want from them.

Wait, people care about xp on multibox accounts?

I kill them, put the stones in my backpack, and log them out to avoid the crushing cpu load that happens when they teleport to their stone. But I only care about raising them to loot chests.

In this case, the completion xp at least.
Logging out stones stays with the carrier? Thanks!
Many ways to go about this...

Log them out to pause the timers on ship buffs and gems of fortune.

I keep them logged in to add some challenge to DDO. Especially when I used to run Weapon Shipment. Smiley

If you are leveling a shitty life (your own opinion on which lives are shitty is your own choice), you can step in with your character that you don't enjoy with a big xp pot running and log out with that character until the quest is almost done.  That  will paause their xp pot timer and alllow you to get more quest comnpletions in one pot.

Not sure if it's worth doing, but it's something to consider if you find one specific life particularly vile.  Make your other account's various sorcs and wizards do the heavy lifting for you.  Your mileage may vary.

Thanks all, lots of good tips.

Osharan, do you know if xp is granted if they were merely logged out and didn't step out, and zoned in after completion?

1. All zone in, buff up, step out, logout, complete quest, login, zone in and get xp. (This step is comparable to step in, buff, logout and relog right before completion)

2. Wait outside of quest, log out, almost complete and zone the in. This would limit scaling to the boss fight. (More hp on boss?)

3. All zone in, buff, kill them off and carry stones, log out, carry and complete the quest. Does the stones need to log back in before completion?

I'm looking for the least actions on my part for the other accounts. Number 3 looks good, get multiple loot pulls so long as you can rez, but just eat the 10% death penalty.

I log multiboxes in before looting chests, both because they don't get the chest if you open it while they're d/ced and they're humans with chest blessing.

I usually only have to res once per looting time, as I usually run with one of them being a cleric.

They should get XP if they're in your backpack logged out when you finish. Remember they have to be logged in when you finish to get epic chests though, if you're farming seals/shards.

Yes, if I'm understanding the question correctly.  For example..
Zone into the quest on 3 accounts.  Two characters hit logout, and sit on the character select screen.  Or you can close out the client.  Whichever.  They just need to stay in party, so no character swapping on those accounts.
Finish the quest.  Log the other two characters back on, while the "quest runner" is still in party, and still in the quest to keep it active.  XP gets awarded.

1. All zone in, buff up, step outThis part is not necessary, if you are logging out.  The reason that some people just step back out the door is to avoid the memory leak issues with logging characters in and out.  It's worth it for them to take the reentry xp hit on the two box accounts, to avoid having to mess around with longer loading screens, client restarts, etc., logout, complete quest, login, zone in and get xp. (This step is comparable to step in, buff, logout and relog right before completion)

2. Wait outside of quest, log out, almost complete and zone the in. This would limit scaling to the boss fight. (More hp on boss?)
This option ends up with potential late entry penalties, and also a lot of potential for "ooops, I forgot to zone in the two box".

It's worth noting that I play in windowed mode, not full screen.

There is no re-entry penalty after completion.  The only downsides are missing out on optionals and epic chests.

You can multibox with the official launcher now too.

I still prefer pylotro cause it logs in faster.
