Well you can call me a liar if you want, but I tr'd one toon after u19 that did not receive a box. All my other toons who should have received boxes did. My SO had they same thing happen to one of his toons. But no others.

Do you really think that unqualified toons receiving boxes and qualified toons not receiving boxes are mutually exclusive? I for one have no problem believing that turbine could have screwed up badly enough that both problems could occur.

No one is calling you a liar.  I never suggested Turbine might not have messed up somewhere on TR's.  I know several players in guild who are getting boxes per the original specifications.  Run a raid this life, even if years ago.  Not run a raid after U19 or no box.

Keep up, sparky.

My point was that a lot of posters were getting all hot and bothered by the release notes.  Before you get your panties in a wad, log in to the game and see what's what.

I received three of the four boxes I should have qualified for.

Not as bad as I thought.

Ticket submitted, now we play... the waiting game.

Be careful calling it a game. They may find a way to charge TP for it.

Wait so every one gets a second box?!!......

They screw this up. Expect 3rd box soon.
CITW will be changed to one weapon of choice per completion shortly after 5th box for everyone debacle

So my F2P Level 5 Cleric gets a box! And my F2P level 8 Ranger gets a box!!!

EVERYBODY GETS A BOX!!!

So I DIDN'T have to run Chains of Flame 3 freakin times to get my iconics through ADQ after all???

I knew they would Turbine this up when I logged into Lammania on my Level 7 TR and he didn't have an Apology Box in his inventory. And I should have known it wouldn't get fixed in time for release.

Same old, same old. But my lowbies will be happy now lol.

It's my fav raid to do- H/N not elite-.

I like that everyone gets 2nd box. I'm not upset.

But the 5th box for everyone debacle will make it that anyone who opened the 5th box got their entire stash of relic weapons destroyed.

Forcing more completions of CitW.

NO.

Had this been the out-of-the-gate solution, it would have been those things.

This is a shiny response to avoidably sloppy sloppy workmanship.

It's a rare outcome that favors the players, and I'm happy to see such a thing, but it would have been more efficient to do this the first time instead of wasting developer hours that could have been spent making new graphics for the Sunstone.

It's a simple, straightforward, generous response to their second fuckup.  That's substantially better than their usual response of multiple fuckups without realizing that they've fucked up.  I absolutely agree that this should have been their first response, but that's because they should have recognized that they have trouble figuring out who did what across an entire server.  The fact that they took a step back and made it more simple after their second fuckup is a HUGE improvement over their usual process that I'm actively impressed by that insight on their part.

I have very low expectations of Turbine right now.

Are the boxes coming via mail?  If so, mail has a limited lifetime, correct?  If so, then I guess that even though I'm not playing anymore, I should download the game and sign in to all of my toons so I can grab the stuff - before uninstalling once again.

Discovered the second box thingie this morning...
All my boxes are stored in bank since yesterday evening... I can't wait to see if it's a new box or if it's a new box for those that didn't receive one or if it's a new box for those that didn't use one or if it's a new box for those that don't have any Pain in the Navel Item.

I'm sure they are going to screw up that second box giving too.
They always screwed up those general gifts, as soon as there was a limitation on who got the gift and who didn't get it....
( Except Codemasters... They managed to give a free Greater Heart to all the 16+ characters once, and they didn't miss any.... even those that  were 15 with banked XP got it. )

Couldn't agree more; I'm considering sigging this  Wink  I'm not checking for cavities in the teeth of this particular gift horse; a few toons of mine who otherwise would never have had the play to get CitW weapons, will get CitW weapons.  That is good.  None of them will ever get upgraded, but so what?

Had they not done this, we'd have been saying that this is what they should have done.  They tried for a selective approach, failed, and have jumped straight to the next best option with no real opportunity for drama to build; that's a fucking enormous step forward.

Yeah, we could all wish that no mistakes were made in the first place, but this is the first time in fuck-knows-how-long that a cockup has been immediately addressed in a way that hardly anyone can complain about (although there are, of course, always a few).  Based on recent performance, it wouldn't have been surprising if they'd left it a fortnight to give any kind of response while the forums ghostbaned a new meme...  this is a vast improvement by comparison.

Also; is it not better that they say "screw it, it's a goodwill gesture, let's not waste any more time fixing the distribution method and just give one to everyone" than it would be if they wasted development resources trying to pin down whatever it is caused the process to mess up?  It's not a game-changer; it might cause more people to raid for comms is all.  Cautious, low-key applause here from me.

I read once that looking a horse in the mouth is a reference to checking how much the teeth had grown which apparently tells you how old the horse is. Supposedly their teeth don't stop growing.

This supposed horse fact is also used in the phrase, "a bit long in the tooth" etc.
